Seriously, while you're at it, why don't you just say "no good music," too.

Re: Greatest (pop) songs of all time
Why is it that all the songs you picked are singles?

Re: Greatest (pop) songs of all time
Some people don't care enough to actually take the time to dig through all of the songs on the albums, and as a result miss out on a ton of amazing songs.
On the other hand, singles are generally released as such because they're catchy.

Re: Greatest (pop) songs of all time
Haha Well it feels like singles generally have to be molded a certain way and tend to be more formulaic in order to be marketable and I feel that a lot of creativity is sacrificed in order to have a song that will sell.

Re: Greatest (pop) songs of all time
I think that's true to an extent in many cases, but there are also a lot of songs that were released as singles but are still fantastic and don't seem to have any lack of creativity.

Re: Greatest (pop) songs of all time
I think you're putting a little too much thought into it. For every band that willfully manipulates their singles to appeal to the mass market (perhaps only half the time sacrificing creativity), I am sure there is a band who just says, "These are our favorites, and therefore are our singles."
For other bands, of course, the process is more like, "These are the two or three songs that don't absolutely suck, and therefore are our singles."
