 Re: Coldplay
What I don't get is, why hate Coldplay, when you can hate the Jonas Brothers? At least hate someone with no talent.

 Re: Coldplay
Now that's something I can agree with.

 don't read this.
oh geez... i'm gonna be that guy.
COLDPLAY SUCKS. THEIR FIRST ALBUM WAS BEST.
i was totally into travis as they were getting big, same with coldplay and less so with radiohead. parachutes is a BRILLIANT album. i listen to it every so often and it's really really flawless. rush of blood was shit and i have only listened to singles since then... none of which were good enough to warrant listening to the album.
in my mind the winner from this period was travis, even though they're currently having a fall from grace themselves, they were the best at the time. this is also from someone who can't stand recent radiohead, but someone who loves the bends very honestly.
the bends, the man who and parachutes are great examples of 90's (2000 for coldplay) british (ok, travis are scotish) alt-rock. rush of blood was production and bore, whereas these three albums had magnificent songwriting.
and if you're really going to get into 90's alt-rock, find "ain't love strange" by paul thorn and august and everything after by the counting crows.
oh, and u2 sucks.

 Re: Coldplay
Parachutes is by far Coldplay's best album and I don't think you're going to find many people, fan or not, that disagree with that. I've also listened to August and Everything After, and that's really good as well.

"British" entails England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. "English" entails England. "Scottish" entails Scotland.

 Re: Coldplay
New Coldplay EP is out. It's called Prospekt March. It's awesome! I'm sharing it on Soulseek right now if anyone wants.

Oh shit, I actually had Travis' "The Man Who" when I was little O_O. My parents work for an international company so we usually got a lot of souvenirs from co-workers all the time and one of them was that album (albeit a burnt copy). Great stuff, I just redownloaded right now and everything I remembered about that great album is just returning to me.
Also yeah I agree Parachutes is an excellent album from Coldplay.

 Re: Coldplay
Good artists borrow...
Viva la Vida is still a good song, and as we've all discussed before, the same chord progression doesn't make for a ripoff. Having the same melody for one of the verse phrases is a bit suspect, and they could have in fact ripped it off of Satriani, but either way the differences and lyrics make it a good song.
