eh.
Maybe it's simply opinion. Let's just agree to disagree.

I think Led Zeppelin is overrated, but by no means untalented. They are all very talented musicians, although their music doesn't do much for me.

Like I said before, it may be a matter of opinion. I wouldn't try to deny their technical proficiency, but that alone does not constitute talent. I understand that many people worship of them, but their songwriting leaves me with a lot to be desired. I just never find myself wanting to listen to them. Anyways, I didn't mention them to start a credibility debate, just as a response to something Bleuster posted.

I love Led Zeppelin. Not in the same way as the Pillows, but they are a fucking great rock band.

For once I have to agree with schmatzee.
For once I have to disagree with Jomei. Led Zepplin ripped off the likes of Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and the like. The only reason they got so famous is because they were white and because they put a hard rock edge to thier blues style music. Jimmy Page himself admitted that he can't play the same guitar solo twice because he is too fried. Also, everyone I know that saw them live said they just sucked. My friend Cheryl was so dissapointed in them. She was a big fan and was really looking forward to seeing them and they just bombed, big time. Not only that, but apparently they were rude to the audience. I totally agree that they are over rated as all hell even though I do like a few of their songs.

Back on topic. Blues I love blues music. Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson, B B King. Ray Charles (I love brother Ray) Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Fabulous Thunder Birds and Johnny Lang are among my favorties. There is no greater music on the planet to get drunk to in my opinion.

Funny, because they are known as being one of the best live bands ever. Jimmy Page may be fried now, but back in the day he could flawlessly reproduce his solos. Sure, Jimmy ripped off some blues musicians, but I don't really care.

Saying they got famous because they were white is pretty absurd. They are famous because they have some bloody awesome records and, in their day, they were fucking awesome live. If you don't believe me, check out their newest DVD.

Jeezus. Maybe you need to hear more of their music? Anyone who wants to hear some of their stuff just hit me up on AIM and I'll send you some cool junk.

Finally. I feel very much the same way.
Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker
I worship Muddy Waters. Folk Singer, New port, are favorites. And, you can't go wrong with the Hook.
Robert Johnson
-bingo-
It seems like you'de like Son House, Big Bill Broonzy, or Elmore James.
