I think we all know fender Offsets are the best...
Mustang, Cyclone, Jaguar, Jazzmaster, Bronco, Duosonic, tornado, etc.
They're all the best.

For being indie, maybe. For sounding good, though? Really?

I'll try to rephrase that for him (and for me):
I think Fender offset guitars have the best aesthetics...
Mustang, Cyclone, Jaguar, Jazzmaster, Bronco, Duosonic, tornado, etc. They're all the best. As for the sound, well, it really depends on what you're going for. Jazzmasters can sound phenomenal clean, Toronados can give you a really thick Les Paul crunch, and hey, some people dig the thinness of the Mustang. All in all, Strats and Teles can be quite versatile, spectacular guitars, but there's a lot of value (sound-wise, looks-wise) in Fender's less popular models which I heavily enjoy.
Well thats just what I'm all about...
Nah, soundwise I guess your right about versitality and stuff, but the shapes are so much better.
Fender should really lay off making 50 versions of the strat and come out with some new things...instead of discontinuing them all.
Same with Gibson, but even more so. There are too many LP';s and not enough variety for my tastes. Especially with that price tag.

Agreed!
The pricetags are seriously killing me!

I believe Jimi Hendrix has proved the Strat has a amazing sound.
Even with his skill he did not sound as good playing his Gibson as he did playing his Fender.

We could easily say the same about an artist who plays a Gibson primarily though.
It really is all about personal taste...
they all have differtent sounds and they all have their merits. It's just what your going for.
With that said, FENDER FOR LIFE.

First thing I noticed was that there was a huge discrepancy in the audio quality of the two recordings, with the woodstock one being much clearer and crisper.
Secondly, the guitar is not the ONLY thing that determines the tone and sound of something.

I'm a total Tele and Jazzmaster fan. I like some of Gibson's designs but they don't fit the style of music I play. I love Fenders clean and distorted and prefer their brighter overdriven sound and expressive, sparkly cleans over that of Gibsons - I don't play really hard rock or jazz enough to need a Les Paul or 335. So it's all dependent on the style of music you play - myself and many others here are probably better suited to Fenders.
I would like to own a Rickenbacker someday, though.

One's musical style isn't as dependent on his guitar as one would think - especially with such versatile guitars as are Les Pauls and Stratocasters, both which could play just about anything with the right pickups.

ya
So, since the poll shows that fender is more popular than gibson, I've decided to save the whole "beg for money from parents for les paul" until later. Now however, I have a limited budget that I've saved up for quite awhile. So, since I don't like telecasters because they're not versatile enough (and weigh a ton) --> in my opinion <--, I 'm getting a strat. My budget has narrowed the choice down to two picks.
Korean or Japanes (not sure) made (special edition) Lite Ash:
Also comes in solid black and solid white

OR
American made Highway One:
Also comes in blue, black, white, tabacco sunburst, etc.

Both are excellent guitars, but I'm leaning more, actually way more, toward the lite ash buecause it has the kind of sound I want. The highway one is a more blues guitar. Also, if I'm getting an american made guitar, it should at least have a few useful features. Plus, I heard the lite ash has crazy sustain becuase of its awesome pickups.
I want it!

I'd pass on the guitar if it's Korean made. And yes, Teles weigh a bit, though not as much as LPs.
