ketchup mania? hm. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3Fstx6F ... re=related

oh.

so this brings me to my next question: Why do 95% of Japanese bands that come to America totally blow?

(the remaining 5% includes noodles, the pillows, Number Girl, POLYSICS, and GNB [cuz their recording])

Seriously, omnistry. Stop kidding yourself. You don't have to listen to this. You can explore better music from other countries (including the one you live in) as well. It doesn't have to be like this.

Naturally following that question is this: Why does omnistry listen to all these shitty bands, and why does he think we do as well?

I'm gonna interject here and say I'm a fan of Avengers in Sci-Fi and would love to see them live. Detroit7 is decent, but they've never been anything special to me. I haven't heard of the rest of the bands on there, but there's a damn good chance they aren't anything special. I'm just not up for traveling all the way to Austin. And even when good bands do come here, they only go to major cities, especially in the west coast. I had to ride a fucking Greyhound bus for 24 hours to see the Pillows live a year and a half ago while a good amount of you were at most a few hours away. (I'M LOOKING AT YOU, BOSTON, MA)

There are many American bands I listen to (i.e.: QOTSA, Mutemath, RX Bandits, Louis XIV, the Killers, Modest Mouse, Dr. Dog, The Teeth, SOAD, Kanye West, White Stripes, etc.); and I do listen to a lot of British bands. Years ago I used to listen to a lot of German rock and metal, but now I really just listen to Rammstein and Wir Sind Helden. I also tried to listen to Scandinavian music, but only Turbonegro appealed to me. (H.I.M. sucks, IMO.)

There are bands I don't like from Japan. With the exception of a couple bands I'm not a fan of visual kei; and I hate a lot of these idol bands (Morning Musume, SMAP, Happy 7, Hello! Project). The only reason why their albums sell are because some people think they're good-looking.

I never said "Hey everyone loves Ketchup mania!" I'm just a fan. Also, detroit7 does a good "Rape Me" cover. That and "This Side of Paradise" turned me onto that band.

Petty Booka is cute, they were at SXSW before. They're a ukulele duo. Not something I would listen to on a regular basis but they put on an enjoyable show.

Sweet. I'll probably be at the show in Boston, like last year.

Bummed out that avengers in sci-fi won't be at Boston, but excited for the other bands, I guess. :X

I've only heard one song by Pretty Booka, and thought they were okay (something about a jukebox). Nothing too special. But I'm stoked about the other 3 bands. I'm going to see if I can get an interview with at least one of these bands for the radio show.

Two more bands were added to the Japan Nite Tour: Beaches & Scandal. Anyone ever heard of them?

never heard of any of these guys but after checking myspaces. I'm about 50/50. Though I would really like to see detroit7, they're the best looking too me, but I can imagine alot of these groups being alot of fun to see live. Right behind them is actually scandal and the emeralds.

I would probably enjoy ketchup mania more if the girl wasnt so... not punk. It almost sounds like she's singing pop and a punk band makes up some stuff behind her. Also they remind me alot of Paramore in appearance.

So. I'll be at the Chicago show.

10$ for a good time and some catchy music? Why not.
