So yeah, as indicated by my thread, I am a fan.
Good stuff, my favorite song would have to be Space Sonic. Stereoman is a great song too.
I don't detect whiny vocals either. His voice is really good, english at least.
GR's vids =/= good examples of comparison.

Dude, Space Sonic is probably my favorite song off Eleven Fire Crackers, and Stereoman is one of their best b-sides.
I really like all their albums, though my favorites are Don't Trust Anyone But Us, Riot on the Grill, and Eleven Fire Crackers. I'm a little miffed that they haven't released anything since freaking 2006, but they've been pretty busy touring off and on, so hopefully something good is in the works.

Yeah, good stuff.
I haven't imported anything, the stuff I have is from Eleven Firecrackers and the Compilation they released in the US.
Marry Me is a pretty catchy tune.

Like I said, Riot on the Grill is just a freaking amazing album.
I have pretty much everything Ellegarden has released on my computer, so let me know when you're looking for something

Great thanks!
How are they live? I've only seen a few choppy live vids...

I've yet to go to one of their concerts, but they're really great live performers; the vids I've seen of their shows are all really really good.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdKzm7BN8CI Note the lack of whiny-ness.
I'm gonna tag a "subjective" on this one.
That video typifies pretty standard whininess, actually. As do the rest.
I wouldn't say there's any evidence that this band (Ellegarden) is vastly superior to the others (that's just subjective), and I would say there's a lot of evidence that this band is very similar to the bands GR compared them to. If you can't hear the similarities, you either have to be in denial or completely lacking in musical sense. However, I'm not going to get into whether that makes them a good or bad band, or which band is better than the others.

There are similarities in the sense that they're all pop-punk bands, but my point is that they're not similar to those other bands in the sense that they actually utilize having a second guitarist. I think they're a far better band, and so of course I'm going to disagree when somebody says "If you like this band, you might as well listen to this [shitty] band." That's just being a dick.

Haha, I suppose when you look at it that way, you're right. However, well beyond the genre alone, there are many similarities.
Anyway, I doubt that any of us could actually write off those bands as shitty, as I doubt any of us have actually seriously listened to them before writing them off. I know I'm in that camp.

I checked out Angels and Airwaves a while back because I was a fan of Blink-182, and listened to their CD a few times, but I just didn't really like it.
And yes, there are similarities, I can't refute that, and am not trying to, but I just feel that the difference in the fact that Ellegarden is, in my opinion, a good band, and the others aren't, is a pretty big one.
Oh well, either way. I like Ellegarden, apparently GR doesn't.

I thought they had the best song on SR, but I guess that's not saying much.

Hey, I like that Hawthorne Heights song, I heard it in Pizza Hut a couple months ago and I was like, "Hey! I remember that!" I hated that slit-my-wrists and black my eyes one though, lol. Terrible song.
Quite a coincidence, but the one and only Ellegarden song I have ever heard is SALAMANDER. And I do like it a lot.

Ellegarden is good in the sense that they are catchy, fun, and entertaining. You don't really listen to them for musical virtuosity, you listen to them to have a good time, if you understand what I mean.
I started listening to them after Synchronized Rockers. Their cover was probably my second favorite on the album.

I'm pretty sure it takes a good level of musical skill to write that many catchy songs without getting repetitive. On top of that, they're not only about catchy songs, they have a lot of more serious songs along with the "fun" ones, especially in their old/mid works.
