I really liked their cover of Funny Bunny, so I decided to check them out. I've only heard Pepperoni Quatro, but I only thought one song on there didn't suck hard. The Engrish lyrics were laughable, but the singer's voice dosen't seem all that bad when he's actually singing in Japanese.

I don't see why I would listen to ELLEGARDEN when I could listen to Simple Plan and have the added bonus of correct grammar.

schmatzee, you refer to album syncronized rockers?
in the album is:

- Straightener, ellegarden, noodles, yo-king, Mr. Children, salon music, bump of chicken, going under ground, The Pees, Chikuzen Sato and "Yuta, Toshi, Chiho and Jiro?s Sesion".

I like songs of Going Under Ground (Little Busters) and Funny Bunny (Ellegarden).

Ditto, but I knew that they sucked before listening to their FUNNY BUNNY cover.
ELLEGARDEN really would be a much better band if they would concentrate more on their Japanese songs rather than their English ones. Takeshi's voice, when singing in English, is the most whiny, annoying noise I have ever heard. It fulls me with murderous rage every time I hear it.

I can tolerate some of their Japanese songs, but they are still just mediocre at best.

I like Bump of Chicken because they're extremely talented musicians.

That's also why I listen to Bright Eyes and Orange Range.

No, seriously. Bump of Chicken's music is bland. The only reason anybody would listen to any of those bands is to be trendy among their wapanese peers. You know, the type of people who think Japan is superior to every other nation in every way. I'm not saying you're one of the aforementioned, but that still doesn't explain why you'd waste your time with a band like BOC. I swear, their only selling point is the lyrics. I CAN'T FIND ANY MUSICAL COMPLEXITY IN ANY OF THEIR STUFF.

Ellegarden is the best engrish I've ever heard, it's kind of funny considering how long Sawao has been writing engrish lyrics and how he still can't pronounce them as well as this young guy, lol.

But I used to really be into pop-punk when it was still not so popular, bands like Mxpx, and that's how I got interesting in the subgenres associated with punk. Then after I was done with all that and moved onto indie and then j-bands. So I like Ellegarden because it's like all that pop-punk I used to really be into, but the Japanese lyrics and execution of songs makes it "new" and fresh again for me. The vocal harmonies and choruses in their tunes are superior to any pop-punk band I've heard, of any nationality, very infectious.

One thing that I find very confusing though is how the singer likes throw up gang signs and gangster poses/hand movements while singing. It's very amusing, looking at him doesn't match the music you hear at all.

But I'm looking forward to their next album, I really liked "Missing".

Well when you mentioned their cover of Funny Bunny, I was instantly reminded of the worst cover in the history of music.

I'm trying to find lyrics to 'A Thousand Smiles', off the 'Bare Foot' single, anyone actually have the cd with liner notes/lyrics? If you do, could I also bum a 'better quality than 128kbps version' of the song off you, too? Thanks a bunch

i heard ellegarden recently. like xtsquintx said, the singer's engrish is near-perfect. some of the songs i have are cool. but they sound best when he's singing in japanese. i dont' know the title, but the song i like best is the one where the chorus goes

"bokura no ryoute wa doko made nobaseba
dareka ni fureru(?) kaze"

good stuff. some of the english songs suck, but still are better than bands like good charlotte.

'Riot on the Grille' was a real dissappointment in my opinion.

It's way more American pop-punk sounding than anything else which is something I feared when taking into account their steady progression with each album. The 'My Own Destruction' EP was one of their best releases cause yes, it was pop-punk and whatever, but done well. Like every song had a good structure, pop sensibility and catchy melodies, but... it wasn't carbon copy. 'Pepperoni Quattro' was a definate move towards that whole American pop punk sound, Blink 182-esk, but practically every song was still real catchy and had some serious undertones to it.

The new album however, seems uninspired and hokey for the most part. The only songs that really stand out are 'Bored of Everything', 'BBQ Riot Song', and a toss up between 'Red Hot' and 'Monster'. The catchiness is there, but fuck.. the lyrics are so damn stupid. 'Missing' was really a bad single for this album, meaning that it mislead me to believe that they were going to change gears and that the rest of the album would sound different from what they've been progessing towards.

funny. i hate 'bbq riot song' and 'red hot'. 'snake fighting' was the worst song i've ever heard by them.

i liked 'bored of everything', 'niji' and 'i hate it' though.
