If you want a good overdrive, go with the Ibanez TS808.
If you want a little more distortion, get the Boss DS-1
If you don't know what you want, the Boss OS-2 gives
you a good overdrive and distortion.

I use it live, and to record. You can basically get any sound you want, and it's not ridiculously over priced (Think mine was 170 or so)

Too bad it's over priced for whoever was asking
about distortion in the first place.

What's the difference between distortion and crunch?

BUY BOSS.
boss distortion/turbo distortion/overdrive/overdrive distortion will cover you, no matter what style of music you're going for.
you'd be hard pressed to find and artist who DOESNT have one of those pedals. or two.

I know I'm going against the grain here, but I hate Boss pedals. They eat up your tone when they're turned off, since they aren't true bypass. Keeley Electronics, however ( www.robertkeeley.com) sells heavily upgraded versions of these pedals that are supposedly far superior to stock models. I sadly haven't played a Keeley, but from what I hear, they're the bee's knees.

Investigate a bit into Behringer stompboxes. I can't vouch for them from personal experience, bu tif you're on a budget they look like they'd be a pretty great value.

Since we're going nuts, Moog pedals. They're ungodly expensive, but all analog beauty.

Oh fuck yeah, the MURF MF-105 is awesome.
In fact, it will be my next pedal.

Okay, another pedal question. I need something to, how you would say, delay or make the chords longer. Like in the Lonesome Diamond solo. I'm not completely sure if it's called a delay pedal or a reverb pedal. It's been a year since last time I've studied these things, so I'm a little dusty and I want to start back up in guitar. Any advice would be appreciated.
