Live 8: Nine nations with a single voice
Live 8
Live 8 was a series of concerts that took place on 2 July 2005, in the G8 nations and South Africa. They were timed to precede the G8 Conference and Summit held at Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, Scotland from July 6-9, 2005; it also coincides with the 20th anniversary of Live Aid. Running parallel with the UK's Make Poverty History campaign, the shows planned to pressure world leaders to drop the debt of the world's poorest nations, increase and improve aid, and negotiate fairer trade rules in the interest of poorer countries. Ten simultaneous concerts were confirmed for 2 July and one for 6 July.

i hope that this can increase awareness on poverty in africa ;-;
do you think concerts like live 8 can help to diminish debts, and bring change?
i feel that best interests are at heart, but if there was a model experience protrayed by the stars performing at the event, their message to battle poverty would shine through so much more strongly:
£7000 goody bags for stars
performers in philadelphia, including will smith, stevie wonder and bon jovi, enjoyed the best treatment of any live 8 celebrities. their backstage gourment menu included crispy, calamari salad, chargrilled dry, aged beef, salmon sushi and tea-smoked spare ribs. as if that were not enough, they then went home with goody bags worth nearly £7000. gifts included hugo boss suits, watches, jewellery and guitars.
g-8 summit deja vu

yeah, it's a crock of shit, mostly...
although some help is likely being done, these guys are helping themselves a lot too.
but what is better... the missionaries who go to africa and help them with food and clothes and reading and stuff.. but shove religion down their throats.. or these guys?

I know that Keane, Muse, Travis, REM, The Thrills, Robbie Williams, Sir Elton, and Paul McCartney played and I want to see them.
I miss Queen.
