I am going to have to disgree with you Zenk. Kurt was mediocre at best. Kurt's only saving grace was his adiction. That was really the only thing that made him interesting. And his guitar "abilities" can also be linked directly to his adiction. He might have been good before, I dunno, I didn't know the man at all. BUT, there are some people who are spastic by nature and some who are infulenced. Kurt was infulenced. I mean seriously, I've seen Rick Neilson pull off some shit and look what band he was in...

As far as his lyrical ability goes, well, he was not a stupid man, but his lyrics were highly if not completely influenced by his adiction. The only way to total comprehend what ANY adict (i'm nto talking about the weekend two hit pot smoker or alcoholic, I'm talkign about fucking true blue junkies) is talking about you have to be one. I for one have very little undertsanding about what Kurts message was if there was one. The only person I have ever met that had any vague idea of what Kurt was talking about is my ex Jacob. Being a junkie himself he could relate with Kurt on a level that I or most people could ever.

Please don't bash other really good bands while putting Kurt Cobain on a pedastal. He wasn't any different then any other musican from that era. At least try to do some back ground research on these bands before spouting off crap that you don't understand. That goes to everyone.

And as for Soundgarden, you/everyone should really download Superunown. It's awesome from start to finish.

By the way has STP been mentioned? If not then I am now. Purple is the best album EVAR.

Don't forget The day I tried to live, Kickstand, Blackhole sun and Spoonman and 4th of july. I mean seriously, this is the best album from the grunge rock era. Fuck everything else, especially Pearl Jam, Superunknown and Purple are all you need.

Not being one of my favorites, I will agree that DIRT is just fucking awesome.

Oh, if any of you guys get a chance you should check out a song called "Dirty water ocean". It's by a band called Green apple quick step. The album is Dirty Virus I think, well the album sucks, but Stereo and Dirty water ocean are cool. The video is weird and the dude looks like Keanu Reeves from Bill and Ted, but it's worth adding to your play lists.

I still have to defend Paul, though. Perhaps you know of another guitarist who blends technical ability, melody, harmony, versatility, originality, and emotion better than he does, but I'm sure there aren't too many. Paul's "weaboo" nature has nothing to do with his greatness. That side of him only really started to present itself after he started his solo career - long after he immortalized his legacy as a truly kick-ass guitarist.

wow, i'm very disapointed in Zenk... and strangely i dont feel bad about it, i mean i defended him a lot in like some Smashing Pumpkins discussion, but just killin' off Soundgarden, AIC, and Pearl Jam like that was evil... even thought i agree that Jar of Flies is amazing

oh and i love Purple by STP, thats freakin good stuff rite there
