 Re: Ellegarden
I think the pop punk roots and the tone of voice killed it for me.

 Re: Ellegarden
Vocal timbre is everything for me. Keep that shit in the karaoke bars, BRO.

 Re: Ellegarden
I still love Ellegarden and the Hiatus. The guitar work is pretty much just solid punk stuff, nothing too amazing, but upbeat and fun. The vocals, classic engrish, but catchy as fuck and classic pop-punk. The drumming is awesome.
Really overall I'd say it's the melodies and hooks that do it for me. Space Sonic, Autumn Song, Stereoman, etc. etc.

 Re: Ellegarden
I think that the guitar work for Ellegarden is much better than your typical pop-punk, frequently. The rhythm guitar is mostly just straight pop-punk stuff, but there's more difficulty to playing those fast-strumming palm-muted rhythm parts than a lot of people appreciate, on the one hand, and their drummer is hella good, on the other.
Oh well, I can see how people don't dig the vox.

 Re: Ellegarden
Honestly, the guitar playing was the only thinking keeping me on the fence. But overtime it has just gotten to the point where it's fancy guitar work put on top of something I don't really enjoy. So it's null.

 Re: Ellegarden
You should get some Nothing's Carved in Stone, then. It's a more alt-rock band with Elle's guitarist, Straightener's bassist, and two other really good musicians from bands I can't remember right now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mu-dPo_34Yohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8JsilVZnv8

Yeah, I should have pointed that out or linked something; it's a really clever name for a tour lol.
