Re: Classical
This is what me got into 'classical' music recently: Karl Stamitz (1745-1801): Concerto in D Major, in particular part 1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGGzxgB0I2gI like the 'chorus', the interplay between violins and flute. the antics of the flute. And also the broken chords of the second violins.
This is really good. I had never heard of Karl Stamitz. Thanks for posting.

Re: Classical
Bach, Brandenburg Concerto 5. This one has a wicked epic harpsichord solo towards the end. Bach was the first Led Zep!
The solo starts at about 6:39, but listen to the whole thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK6-x9sdEYo

Some of my favorites: Tchaikovsky's Marche Slave: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5poSw7tFLB4This is a very powerful piece. The sheer power of the climax gets me every time. Wagner- Siegfried's Funeral March: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9AtfdY6 ... re=relatedSlow and ominous. Really good stuff. Debussy's Arabesque no. 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IasbA3iUl3EThis piece is very beautiful. It feels almost ethereal, as though it came from a dream or something. Lovely and soothing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGRO05WcNDk
You bastard. You slipped that in here as though I could only listen to it once a sitting. Edit: To contribute to the thread, I add the Romantic piece Fruhling by Richard Strauss. It is deeply dark and enchanting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNrjPbaKaLc

Glad to see a lot of Chopin love in this thread. My personal favorite (and my favorite classical piece in general, for that matter): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlzF_jLZOL4

Re: Classical
Artur Rubinstein is probably the most renowned interpreter of Chopin's works, his 19 Nocturnes in particular are my personal favourite and the only kind of Classical music I can listen to. Op. 9 1,2,3 are all excellent.

Re: Classical
Rubinstein's interpretations of Chopin's Nocturnes and Mazurkas are simply the best. I'm not going to muddle words here. If you don't agree, you are a loser.

Re: Classical
I've mostly been interested in concerto's recently. Here's one with a bassoon: Hummel's Bassoon Concerto in F major. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=en ... olsIw0fzzUSomehow the bassoon reminds me of a saxophone.

Re: Classical
Just found this one today Debusy - La fille aux cheveux de lin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQC4LXKJBN8Fell in love with it. I put it on repeat for two hours lol. (it's less than three minutes long) Slow-tempo piano piece, good for accompanying you when you are looking into some old photo albums, having a nice diner by candle light, or whenever you are in a calm contemplative mood. Good stuff. (I don't care much about the video...I just listen to the music)
