So this is probably the only Japanese band I've "discovered" since I last posted on IM a few years back. The main songwriter Masaya Matsuura, went on to work on PaRappa the Rapper, UmJammer Lammy, and VibRibbon. The singer, Chaka, is just this adorable woman with a great voice. I actually first heard them when I was a kid on this little-known direct-to-video 3D animation film called Elroy's Toy. One of the segments features a song of theirs that they recorded under the name MATSU-KIRI Project, and it is here:

There's some other stuff online, and the non-singles on their albums are considerably more... new wave, I guess. Straight 80's Japanese pop, except not straight at all. Sadly, they broke up some time in the mid-90's, but still have a rather extensive discography that I've got part of. If you're interested, let me know and I can hook you up with some mediafire action.
