I got this for the intro:
(E)---------------------------------------------------------------------| (B)---------------------------------------------------------------------| (G)---------------------------------------------------------------------| (D)-7-7\-5-5/-7-7/-10-10-7-7\-5-5/-7-7/-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-| (A)-7-7\-5-5/-7-7/-10-10-7-7\-5-5/-7-7/-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-| (E)-5-5\-3-3/-5-5/-8--8--5-5\-3-3/-5-5/-8---8--8--8--8--8--8---|
Do that four(?) times, on the last time gradually slowing the last chord.
It's not hard. All power chords.
e|-----------------------------------------------------| B|-----------------------------------------------------| G|---------------3--3-3--3-3-3-5--5-5--5-5-5-8-8-8-x-8-| D|-5--5-5--5-5-5-3--3-3--3-3-3-5--5-5--5-5-5-8-8-8-x-8-| A|-5--5-5--5-5-5-1--1-1--1-1-1-3--3-3--3-3-3-6-6-6-x-6-| E|-3--3-3--3-3-3---------------------------------------|
e|----------------------------------| B|----------------------------------| G|-7-7-x-x-x-7-7-x-x-x-7-7--7--8--5-| D|-7-7-x-x-x-7-7-x-x-x-7-7--7--8--5-| A|-5-5-x-x-x-5-5-x-x-x-5-5--5--6--3-| E|----------------------------------|
Actually, for the intro, I've gotten this:
e|------------------------------------------------------| B|------------------------------------------------------| G|-4-4--2-2--4-4--7-7-----------------------------------| D|-5-5--3-3--5-5--8-8-----------------------------------| A|-5-5--3-3--5-5--8-8-----------------------------------| E|-3-3--1-1--3-3--6-6-----------------------------------|
You do that a couple of times. On every other bar you add a few at the end. On the last bar, let the last chord ring into feedback

Chord? I think not. Anybody who knows the structure of a chord will tell you otherwise. This is the reason power "chords" = word i can't say in this forum.

I've not taken enough theory to know if you're right or not, so I'm assuming you are, but still: don't the notes on the G strings classify them as major cho... er... notes...?

Yeah, those are minor root 5 chords. I quoted that, but was takling about people calling it power chords.

Power chords certainly are chords. If you want to get technical, a G power chord could just be a G add 5, although G5 does it in terms of naming for most people. You don't need a third to have a chord, unless you want to argue that all add and/or suspended chords don't exist.

I don't think those chords are minor....

True, but suspended chords work because there are other notes that make it work. But with suspended chords, you replace the third with the 2 or the 4 (I can't remember), so that works. The one and the Five alone, don't make a chord. Things are replaced in suspended and add chords, and that's why they work. With a power chord, things are simply removed, therefore not working. There are certain circumstances that make the others work.

Yeah, you can suspend 2 or 4. Anyway, I see what you're saying, but I'd still call it a chord. It's an ambiguous chord that isn't major or minor (much like suspended chords), but there's not much else you can call it. Also, if you extend a power chord they can be pretty interesting sounding. An open G5 (3x0033), for example, can be a pretty useful and functional chord in the right places even though it just has a root and fifth.

I guess it just depends on the sound you want. I, personally would never use power chords, being that it irks me becuase of it's simplicity and it doesn't sound "full", but some people like it. But 9 out of 10 people who know theory will probobly maybe agree with me on this.

It really does depend on the sound you want. I prefer to use a combination of "real" chords and power chords.
But ghost is right, power chords are chords just like any other chords. Stop this musical segregation!
