ROBOTMAN [Request]
Hey
Was wondering if anyone could tab out Robotman.
That would be a big help since I pretty much suck trying to play it.
thanx

Yeah, I think so too. But if I play what I think it is, with the song, it sounds kinda off.
I'm trying hard to listen to what they're playin, but I just dont have the ear for it...

I have no skill at actually TABBING, but I can tell you this:
Assuming the first number is the fat E-string.
x5x7xx
x3x5xx
x2x4xx
3x5xxx
x2x4xx >>slide>> 0x2xxx >>slide>> x2x4xx >>slide>> 0x2xxx
That last part I'm not too sure on, but it sounds right.
Basically powerchords without the middle string.

He does different things, but the ending is more like
x3x5xx >slide> x8x10xx
and he kinda goes back and forth between those
and sometimes
x3x5xx >slide> x8x10xx >> x7x9xx >> x3x5xx

Although I can't play the song myself (Working on writing a full tab for it for this site, but it's coming along slowly. u_u;;), I -do- have some decent tab skillzorz, or something. I don't know if it's correct or not, it's just what Mr. Rhino wrote out on a scale.
e|-----------------------------------------|
B|-----------------------------------------|
G|--7---5---4-------4/--4/---------------|
D|--x---x---x---5--x/2/x/2--------------|
A|--5---3---2---x--2/x/2/x--------------|
E|---------------3-----0/--0--------------|
Also, I think Manabe may be doing some of the slides, since there are probably ways to make this bit easier on rhythm by having the lead take care of the slide parts. Is it just me, or at the beginning of each chord in the intro and verse parts (Virtually the same piece, if not identical?) sounds a little thinner? It almost sounds to me as if Manabe starts the notes by sliding in and Sawao comes in right as he does so and both of them play it at the same time; I think it sounds a bit like there are two distinctly different distortions on it, which would at least suggest that it's played by both guitars. Plus, with the bassline different from this and not just filling in, the chords sound a little too full somehow to be a single guitar, if that makes any sense. ...Either way, the chords are the same, but again, the sliding may only be on one of them. -Cough, sweatdrop.-
The distortion on this song, however, sounds rather uniquely like a sawblade grinding metal through a cheap clock radio, especially in the first few notes of the solo. Lots of sexy vibrato in the sustain, anyone? I'm trying to tab the solo first since it's easier for me and make sure the previous parts in the song fit it right...This may be a bad idea, but I'll try to have it done by Monday for you. I think a few of us should gang up on this song and force it into tab, even. x.@

it sounds to me like they're both doing power chords. yamanaka's is lower than manabe's, and manabe is doing the sliding...

That sounds pretty good. But I also got x3x5xx >slide> x8x10xx >x7x9xx for the sliding part.
Thanx a lot for the feedback. This song's been killing me too learn.

Alright, here's what I have on the solo so far. I'm sorry about the rhythm part, I can't play rhythm to save my life, but it can at least contribute to this.
When I played it while tabbing it, I did it unplugged the first time and then tried it with heavy distortion, some chorus and slight fuzz (mostly clean), with a fast vibrato on my pedal for the note marked with #. Some bluesy overdrive helps too, I think, even though it may not be accurate. Worry about that later, though. Any. >.>;;
A short key, just in case-
/ = Forward slide.
\ = Backward slide.
h = hammer-on
p = pull-off
e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|--7h9-9-9p7-----7-9#-----7h9-9/10\9-10/12-9-----------/12----------|
A|---------------10------------------------------------12-10-9------9-10-9---|
E|----------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
e|------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---------/10\--------7-7h9-7-5-------------------------------------------|
A|---------------2-3-5--------------------------------------------------------|
E|--10-12---------------------------------------------------------------------|
...And that's as far as I've gotten. He starts breaking into some higher notes from there and some simple two-string chords, it sounds like (Think about how the end of the solo to 'Moon Is Mine' goes; Sounds like the same sort of thing to me.), but I haven't had time to get into the last bit of it yet. I'll probably be able to today, if nobody else bothers with it first. Also, if anything's wrong with this, please tell me.

MISTAKE FOUND!
x2x4xx >>slide>> 0x2xxx >>slide>> x2x4xx >>slide>> 0x2xxx
Should be:
x2x4xx >>slide>> x0x2xx >>slide>> x2x4xx >>slide>> x0x4xx
So the slide IS possible. Sorry there.

I haven't gotten any further on the solo yet, sorry...u_u; RealLife (tm) sucked me in yesterday, and I got too busy. But, I did manage to swing by my rhythm guitar person's house and get him to play the rhythm parts as you guys have transcribed it, and it sounds good. We tried tuning the guitar down to Eb (E flat) and it sounded a liiittle better...Maybe this is part of it? Maybe the lower guitar is down half a step? I think Sawao's is probably tuned that way with Manabe playing the same part in E standard over him, and the slides sound more bassy so maybe Sawao does those...Also, they seem to have more fuzz on them. The chorus obviously switches to clean, and it also sounds E standard, but I haven't got the notes quite right for it. The solo is also definitely in E standard, it didn't sound right in Eb. I've been using 'Juliet' as a practice model for the verse and 'Bran-New Lovesong' as a model for the chorus...Similar progressions and stroke patterns.

Man, I love this song. Sorry if I got your tabbing time, but I couldn't resist!
Oh, and I recommend that you use the Code stuff when posting a tab. It sizes perfectly like a .txt file. If the lines are too much long copy and paste in a text file.
And I've made some alterations. Pay high attention to where u placed the hammer-on's. I think they are slides. Check them with my tab.

Many thanks n_n;...Just as I was about to put the same thing up, too. o.o; I went through, and as I was finishing the tab for the solo this morning, I changed most of the hammers to slides (Although I was still off; I still had two hammers in my tab of it. Thanks again for the help. n_n). The reason I didn't have it in the first version of it was because I was concentrating more on trying to get the notes right, and then go back and clean the tab up and correct the methods and the like. This is the first solo I've tried to tab that was someone else's work, so I appreciate the assistance. Also, thanks for the tip on the 'Code' thing, I don't use any forums besides this one so I'm kind of a newb to the entire process. I've written your tab for it out in my notebook, and I wondered something else, actually.
I had to speculate that one of the guitars on the rhythm could possibly be in Eb tuning, and when I played it that way with my rhythm guy in E standard and me in Eb, it actually sounded pretty good. What do you think, Keitaro? Anyone?
