How do you mute strings that are on the inside of played notes?

angle your finger so that it rests on the string, but don't fret it.

I'm not entirely sure if he even mutes the string, but it seems fine.

thats gone well for me..

I tried playing Nowhere, and even though it's one of my favorite songs I just can't understand how to play it.
Good luck with it though.
