Hi guys, I normally don't do this type of stuff when I interview artists. BUT since I've grown up with this forum, I thought it wouldn't be a terrible idea to field some questions from the community. I MIGHT have an opportunity to interview the pillows either over email or in-person. If you've ever had any questions you've wanted to ask, post 'em below. I'm not going to guarantee anything, but I'll take what you say into consideration. |

What's been the influence between all the crazy album covers over the years? Why didn't Shin-chan keep his rad facial hair from the Carnival video? |

All of the questions I can think of are mean or inappropriate af. hmmm how about "what's your favourite Pillows album from the past ten years?" I feel like they always just kinda make albums and then just move right the hell along, so it would be super awesome to see some love for the great records that they've made over the past decade. |

Do they ever think about writing songs in their old jazzy style? |

What amp and guitar did Sawao used for Moon is mine? Has Sawao ever gotten support from the group when it comes to writing songs? Are you guys ever going to bring back the teles and strats again? What amp did Manabe used in the Please Mr. Lostman album? Sawao has toured with various of amps during the whole career of the pillows, does he still have these amps anymore? What songs were planned to be added to Living Field but never made the cut? Sorry if all my questions are gear related, after all, the pillows definitely gotten me to play guitar! But I do want to know if the other band members or producers have supervised Sawao in the writing process. It seem liked he gotten help from Manabe once for writing Strange Chameleon. I'm not sure where I remembered hearing about it, though, anybody with a source? Edit: few more questions. Will the pillows ever tour the south east area of the US? Was Please Mr. Lostman gonna be their last album? I've heard so many rumours about this one but I haven't heard any official confirmations. Will they tour London again? And if they do, can they play songs from PML and LB periods? And if possible, can they also play songs from White Incarnation era as well? |

I second Carnival's second to last question. That's been a big rumor we've never got confirmation on. Now who knows if they'll answer this, but I think it's worth asking. I'd phrase it kind of in this way: "Back in 2014, in celebration of your 25th anniversary, you released an exclusive compilation of early demos from 1992-1993 entitled "Bootleg the pillows". On this CD, there were many early versions of songs from the Third Movement, such as Another Morning and Beautiful Picture. Also, I don't know if you're aware, but a REAL bootleg from 1993 recently appeared online featuring early versions of Tashikame ni Yukou and Yellow Beans. What led you to revisit these songs, sometimes as long as 6 years later? Are there more songs from the Third Movement that were initially written during the First and Second Movements, and if so, would the early versions of these songs ever be released on another compilation?" Perhaps that's too wordy, but it's a good way to preface things. It'd show that your a serious fan of the band despite living overseas. He'd probably appreciate the fact that you understand what the various "Movements" of the band actually are. For me personally, I'd really like to know the answers to these questions. I'd also like to ask if the original versions of Liberty and Future will ever see the light of day. How to phrase that one, I'm not sure as it's very specific. At least the above line of questioning is a bit more broad, and maybe he'll answer... who knows. |

OOH I HAVE A SERIOUS QUESTION! FOR ARIE!!! If it's cool, can you plz ask Arie if his other band VOLA & THE ORIENTAL MACHINE are doing anything right now? Liiiiike prepping new material or anything? They play shows super rarely nowadays and it's been a hot minute since their last release (and of course, Arie joined another band - the pillows), so it feels a little like they're winding down, but they still have many adoring fans who are hoping that they continue and make more incredible music! |

Still time to get in on this? My question is just a general and simple one. “Have you had any interesting experiences in America that you would like to share with us?” Thanks for your consideration, Little Bastards. ![]() |
