Instant Music has existed for 13 years. It's time we settle this. Select the best pillows song. Not your favorite, not necessarily the one you've listened to the most. No room for caveats or ties or hand-wringing here, there can only be one [b]Best Pillows Song[/b]. edit: Elaborating on a working definition of "Best" as differentiated from "Favorite" and even "Like Most": Proposing three ways of talking about quality and appreciation: Favorite. Best. and Like Most. Favorite - This is the one your heart votes for. It has a special meaning to you, it may have some obvious flaws, but it's your personal top. Lost in Translation is my Favorite movie. Best - Using more metrics available to you (craft, skill, performance, writing, originality), the Best is something designated as being truly outstanding. You don't necessarily have to even love it, it doesn't necessarily end up in your top three. But you recognize that arguments for it make it rise above. Moonlight is one of the Best movies I've seen. Like Most - For whatever reason, you keep coming back to it. It's addictive, it may not be Truly Great or of High Quality In All Regards, but you've listened to it, watched it, read it dozens of times. My Neighbor Totoro (while great too) is maybe the movie I Like The Most. For instance, consider this sort of answer: Best: Hybrid Rainbow Favorite: ROBOTMAN Like Most: Rush ROBOTMAN can be a favorite track, but it's not hard for me to say that it hits fewer pleasure points than Hybrid Rainbow or is as well-crafted. I haven't listened to it nearly as much as Rush. But I heard it at a particular time, and got attached to it, and maybe it was one of the first songs I learned on guitar or whatever. I vote for Robotman, but I don't vote Robotman as the Best Song |
