Vinyl as short for both vinyl record and vinyl records is silly and "vinyls" is the most natural evolution once you shorten it to "vinyl." I'm well aware of what it "should" be, I just disagree based on how logic works and language evolves.

I think it's probably cause I associate it with the part of the recent vinyl resurgence that treats records as like...#lifestyle home decor pieces. "Got some new vinyls for my Crosley!"
