Hey guys so I know I haven't been active on this site for a while but I've been keeping up with news on the pillows via facebook messenger. When I came back I noticed there are a few new members and I thought it would be a good idea to learn more about our new busters. So introduce yourself, talk about how you got into the pillows if you want to and yeah pretty much another intro thread.

I've been meaning to reply to this topic for a while but kept forgetting :dizzy:

I'm more of a lurker than a poster but this site has been a great resource for learning about the pillows! They are currently my favorite band and have heavily influenced my playing style (guitar/bass)

My current favorite pillows song is You and Me and Mr. Moon (turn back version)

Welcome and ahoy!

Have you ever listened to the original b-side version of Kimi to Boku to Otsukisama (Mr. Moon)? The tone on Manabe's lead guitar is really amazing, although Sawao's singing back then was pretty bad lol.

Thanks and yes I have! The guitar definitely sounds but for some reason the turn back versions speaks to me more.

I'd say that Sawao's verse during those days is like an acquired taste haha. One thing I never found out is what caused the shit in his vocals? Did he just become comfortable/experienced?

I think it's roughly because he went from being inspired by The Smiths to being inspired by Radiohead and Nirvana.

Also, I reread your post and realized the "shit" was a typo, haha.

He went through a few phases of trying to learn how to sing better, I think. Lately, he's on goddamn FIRE.
