Flash Candy could not be contained to one thread. No, my friends, this song at the very least deserves its own thread. I can't get over how amazing, how melodic, how fleshed out this demo is. This song right here is the epitome of what Kool Spice was. The bass line thumps along, Sawao's voice sounds nearly immaculate. The guitars are doing so many different things, and both guitar solos, while different, bout sound delicious and fit the song perfectly.

It seemed like Sawao payed so much attention to detail in this song. The horn in the first verse later transitions seamlessly to the sweet keyboard in the second. The various elements in the song are increased tenfold if you have a nice pair of headphones on. Holy shit, I dare say it's orgasmic. I cannot get enough of this song right now. I seriously question Sawao's ability to decide tracklists based on the exclusion of this song. Why was this not on Kool Spice?! For a seven song album, adding Flash Candy (as well as Swinger a go! go!) would've been simple, and truly a no-brainer. Flash Candy has so much energy; it just makes you WANT to dance, even if you're in the car. If you don't find yourself at least bobbing your head a little bit when listeneing to this song, something is wrong. The lead guitar is so infectious, and the tone fits in perfectly for what Kool Spice became. But again, why leave this off any official release? Did Sawao feel like he was copying someone else's song, because that's the only reason I can even think of to lead to a decision of excluding this song from Kool Spice. Sing the praises of this holy grail here! I think this song is fast moving up my all time favorite songs by the pillows. If this song was on Kool Spice, without a doubt, it would be my favorite. I already love it more than Naked Shuffle and Akanai Tobira no Mae de... and those are damn good songs. That's why Flash Candy is "god-tier".

I'm in total agreement. It's an absolutely amazing song, and in a silly way I almost feel resentful that it's been withheld for so long. It's a powerhouse, at least as good as my other favorites on Kool Spice such as Monochrome Lovers, and yeah, I've been rocking out to it a lot. On the way to work, while writing-- it's just phenomenally good.

I don't know why it didn't end up on an album. It simply doesn't make sense. If the label was OK with Kool Spice, they should have been OK with this beast of a song. It would have fit right in.

Manabe and Kashima just make for such a potent power duo. The bass and guitar fucking make love throughout the whole thing, and the drums are hella crisp as well. [b]Mmmm[/b].

I agree, when I first heard it the other day I was curious as to exactly why Kool Spice is such a short album if this and some of the other songs were available.
