Post subject:  THE PREDATORS

Just a short recap from the other thread that was locked:

THE PREDATORS is the new band formed by Sawao Yamanaka of the pillows (vocals, guitar), Jiro of GLAY (bass), and Shinpei Nakayama of STRAIGHTENER (drums).

Their first album will be release on July 6th;

Hunting!!!

02. Recall Me
03. Dizzy Life
04. Sleepy Dragon
05. Mustang hippie
06. Lizard Man

Anyway, the main purpose of resurrecting this thread is, of course, to post news about THE PREDATORS. I would like this topic to stick around this time, so if you're going to criticize the band only constructive criticism will be accepted, otherwise your post will be considered trolling and I will delete it.

Latest news: The Promotional Video section is up. You can view a clip of the Bakuon Drop PV here. An audio sample of Bakuon Drop can be heard on this page. Also, although the link on the main page hasn't been activated yet, you can access the Media section by going here.

The Predators and the song "Bakuon Drop" seem pretty mediocre so far. The only good quality is the familiarity of Sawao's voice. I'm afraid without Manabe, there won't be any exciting and original solos or even guitar work. Something I hate to admit The Pillows have been guilty of for the last couple albums. Not that there is anything wrong with just simple catchy riffs - it's what got me into The Pillows in the first place. But the ones I'm hearing recently are just not as exciting anymore.

I still have hope for this new band though. I've liked Sawao's other side projects before. Although the more and more I hear of Nine Miles, I hope Manabe puts out more stuff.

^ I think that pretty well sums it up. I kinda like the intro riff, though.

There are still six other songs, so hopefully a few of those will be good.

hahaha, Sawao's still using his stickered-up Cyclone. Thought he would start the band fresh. I guess Culen was right when he said Predators was just an attempt to bring more attention to the original bands (Straightener, Glay, Pillows) bleh. =[

I try not to compare them with the pillows because they aren't the pillows, but I can understand how you could be disappointed with Bakuon Drop if you are comparing them (mainly, if not only, because of no Manabe).
I personally like THE PREDATORS a lot so far. One reason is because I think that Jiro is a great bassist. His bass playing, for me, makes up the loss of a great lead guitarist.

Oh, and for the record, Bakuon Drop is composed by Sawao. I read on a Japanese site that four of the tracks on Hunting!!! are composed by Sawao and that three are composed by Jiro. Don't quote me on this though; I can't find anything to prove this, but I know for a fact that Bakuon Drop is Sawao's song.

I am certainly looking forward to hearing the other six tracks.

I agree. I hope I can get my hands on the full version soon. It looks really cool.

Opinions are welcomed. Ignorant criticism is not.

All he said is that he didn't like it jeez. He didn't like trash it in some paragraph. If crap like this is gonna happen I'm gonna get disappointed. He didn't curse either.

Where I am coming from is that ignorant criticism leads to flame war, and I am not going to have that in one of my threads. And I know what he wrote, so don't insult my intelligence. :P
Post intelligently about THE PREDATORS in this thread or don't post at all, please. It's possible to criticize something without being rude and inconsiderate.

THE PREDATORS is something that I am very interested in, so I would like to keep off-topic/obnoxious posts to a minimum in this thread.

Let's get back to the topic now. Posts not relating to THE PREDATORS will be removed from this point on.

I like it. It's fun. I don't give a shit why they started this band nor do I care that it's not so called musical genous. It's FUN and that's good enough for me.

Yes I swing from Sawao's ___________ and this video clip gives me the perfect opportunity to do so. I frankly don't care who likes it or who doesn't but what else is new, that's just me. *shrugs*

I'm pretty indifferent about the song. It's sort of catchy, but it seems terribly rehashed. I'm still hopeful for the album though. I thought Sono Mirai wa Ima sounded pretty rehashed too, but I ended up really liking Good Dreams, and even that song began to grow on me. It's just a side project anyway.

Personally, I'm a little curious about how the distribution of this album is going to work. Is it going to be self-released? Every result on google for "three mountain records" brings up things related to The Predators disc. I wonder if it's a self-released thing, or a subsidiary of a major label like Delicious is. In fact, I think it's a bit surprising that this isn't on Delicious in the first place.
