So I was doing some snooping around looking for recent set lists, and lo and behold... someone has made a blog documenting shows! And the best part is, it goes as far back as 1991! :shred: Things I've noticed. In the past 6 months are so, the set lists have been pretty awesome. The setlists were also really friggin awesome circa 1997. Such as this set list from the One Life tour in August of 1997:

01. The Killing Field
02. I want to be Sullivan
03.Going Down
04.STALKER
05.ICE PICK
06.Please Mr. Lostman
07. Boku wa Kakera
08. Kanojo wa Kyou
09.When You Were Mine
10.Spiky Goose
11.Moon is mine
12. Hybrid Rainbow (song)
13. In Front of a Locked Door
14.TRIP DANCER
15.like a lovesong (back to back)
16.ONE LIFE
17.cherry
18.NAKED SHUFFLE
19. Killed The Radio Star (cover / BUGGLES)
20.Swanky Street
(encore)
21.SUICIDE DIVING

I'm definitely going to be having some fun here and wishing even more so that I could be in Japan just to see one of their shows.

Also, there was one song of note that I'm trying to decipher. During one of the shows for the Moon Gold tour, they played a song called アンリベルドゥの生涯. Google translates this to "Anriberudu life". I can't figure out for the life of me what song this is. Any help? Here's the direct link for that show, song 11: http://deadlistparadise.blog91.fc2.com/blog-date-199107.html

アンリベルドゥの生涯 is Henry Verdoux's Life. I remember it being mentioned a long time ago. I think there is or was a video of it on youtube at one point.

Here's what Googling helped me find:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsieur_Verdoux

'nother song about Chaplin.

Plot

The film is about an unemployed banker, Henri Verdoux, and his sociopathic methods of attaining income. While being both loyal and competent in his work, Verdoux has been laid-off. To make money for his wife and child, he marries wealthy widows and then murders them. His crime spree eventually works against him when two particular widows break his normal routine. The film ends as Verdoux is being led to the guillotine in the prison courtyard after dismissing his killing of a few as no worse than the highly-praised killing of large numbers in war.

Ah OK, will maybe the video we have of this performance is from the same show in the link above. I would love to see more footage from that show surface. it's just like walking into a time machine looking back at all these set lists. And it really shows how much Sawao loves all his songs. I think he's one of the few artists that really has played all of his released material live at least once.

The Verdoux video we have appears to be from the same performance as Energy on the VOS VHS. The date of the VOS performances might be available.

Update: The VOS VHS with Energy on it appears to have been released on April 1st, 1990. It's not clear what date the performance was, but then again I can't read Japanese.

First thing I do when the time machine is invented: go to the show with that setlist. All of the disasters that could have been avoided can totally wait.

Wow! What a find! Thanks a lot for all this. The only flaw in the list that I can see is the large gap between 92 and 96.

So Sunday and the Love Spy song were already written and being played in 1992. Cool stuff.

They just posted up some more older setlists on the blog recently. This one in particular has me very interested, from the Tiny boat tour, 12/18/95:

01.THE KILLING FIELD
02.FUTURE
03. Monochrome Lovers
04. Patricia
05.Sunday
06.TOY DOLL
07. Watch out for love spies!
08.Tiny Boat
09.DAYDREAM WONDER
10.Beautiful Picture
11.Angelfish
12 I Can Hear Jingle Bells
13. Girlfriend
14.Boku de Irareu You Ni
15.Sha-la-la-lla
16.Kanojo wa Sister
17.NAKED SHUFFLE ~ THE KILLING FIELD
(Encore)
18. Strange Chameleon

Notice the bolded. The Hybrid Rainbow single wasn't released until November of 1997. So this is almost a full two years before release. We already know the earlier version of Patricia was drastically different. I'm really curious in knowing how this early Beautiful Picture sounded. And of course, I'm really wishing we could hear Future(s). Shame there's not bootlegs floating around. Other noteworthy songs seen on these new posts...

- On 4/5/91, the band played a song not previously found in any set list, or talked about anywhere else for that matter. The song was called "Never on Air".
-They played Lorelei on 4/10/95 during the Living Field tour. I think that's the only time I've ever seen it on a set list thus far.
-Foreigner was played during the Swanky Street tour, at the 10/3/96 show. I was under the impression the band had stopped playing Moon Gold songs once the PML era began.
-At the same show as above, Liberty was also played live. Is this the first confirmation we've ever gotten that it was played live (before Turn Back came out of course)? Hearing an original version of Liberty is still one of my holy grails for the pillows.

Very cool stuff. Thanks for sharing this setlist. I'd kill someone in front of their own mother to have a recording of this show.

Things I NEED to hear from the pillows archive before I die:

-Original studio recording of Liberty
-Studio recording/bootleg of Futures
-Original studio recording of Ano Koro ni Modotte

And then whatever other studio recordings remain in the vaults. Hell, I'll settle for some soundboard recordings. Seriously, I wish more people in Japan would bootleg. These setlists between 94-97 are just godly. You have the best of the older stuff, and all the great classic songs coming up.

LIVING FIELD TOUR

01.Swinger's Night Club
02.恋のスパイに気をつけろ!
03.TOY DOLL
04.エンゼルフィッシュ
05.Something like a romance
06.モノクロームラバーズ
07.DAYDREAM WONDER
08.Sha-la-la-lla
09.NATIVE WORLD
10.僕でいられるように
11.Sunday
12.屋上に昇って
13.ローレライ
14.THE KILLING FIELD
15.HAPPY SLAVE
16.NAKED SHUFFLE
(encore)
17.ガールフレンド
18.Bye Bye Sweet Pain
This is the set you mentioned above- with Lorelai on it, I think. I mean, just look at how amazing this set is. They played freaking Angelfish, Sunday, Native World and Swinger's Night Club (always wondered if they'd ever played that live). That some record of this show (aside from the setlist) doesn't exist is really frustrating. Who knows; some Japanese fan could have a bootleg stashed away, but the odds of us in the US ever getting ahold of it are slim.

Also, I noticed this archive doesn't seem to include any shows from '93 or '94. Makes me wonder what sort of goodies they played during those years.

 On 6/16/92 they played Ano Hi to Onaji Sora no Shita De.
