Er…aren't the two versions of Paris no Josei Marii identical?

Isn't the lead guitarist on the instrumental Advice someone not in the pillows? Not certain, but I think I remember reading that.

"Advice (instrumental)" and "My Girl (Document Version)." Couldn't care less about the rest, though. I have also heard that the lead guitar on the "Advice" instrumental was...outsourced. It doesn't really sound like Manabe's style, anyway.

The lead guitar on the instrumental of Advice is someone else. However, I find it to be about fifty times better than the original version, which I always skip.
Er…aren't the two versions of Paris no Josei Marii identical?
Yeah. The whole deal with 90's My Life Returns is that it's remastered and volume boosted. Identical song though. - This poll is missing Like a Lovesong (single vs. album). We don't need to vote about this - the single version sounds like it was recorded underwater. - Also, I was about to vote for My Girl (Document Version), but then I decided that Fiction Version is really a different direction for the pillows, and fills a much needed niche. Both have their strengths, but this one gets unique/melancholy points.

Re: It's pick your favorites time!
The two Paris No Josei Marii differ in the endings. One (the original) is just an instrumental fade out, while the other has "la la la la la" as it ends, and ends with a little riff, without fading out. I think the instrumental Advice is still played entirely by the pillows, but was arranged by someone else. I don't know who. Maybe that other guy who did some of the FLCL songs. Fiction Version is definitely different, which is nice, but I still prefer Document Version, because Fiction is just too slow, and feels empty without drums. Still great, just doesn't beat the album version.

Not to doubt you or anything, but it doesn't seem likely that somebody composed a solo, since the rest of the composition is from the original. I mean, you don't really compose guitar solos - you play them. Especially the kind of solo in Advice. Also, there isn't any evidence that Manabe has ever played anything like what we've seen in Advice.
Then again, I'm just conjecturing, and if you have it on good word, then what do I know.

Re: It's pick your favorites time!
I guess arranged was the word I was looking for. I changed it. I looked around for credits for the Addict CD, but only Wikipedia has them in a by-track format, and Shinkichi Mitsumune is listed as the arranger for that song. I don't have the disc, though, so I can't confirm 100%. I do agree that it doesn't sound like Manabe's style.

I'm reasonably sure I've seen the name of the soloist (not Manabe) but don't remember where.

Honestly, Fiction Version is just boring and insipid.
