Sheer's idea, let's do it. And not just "which A-side is your favorite," but what single (including the B-sides) is your overall favorite?

For me, it's a tough call, but I think I've got to agree that ROSS is probably the best one, since all three tracks are extremely good, whereas most singles have one or two great tracks and the rest is just "pretty good" (relatively lol). Close call between ROSS, Another Morning, and Swanky Street.

btw, if you can't remember what all tracks are on each single:

Great, a website full of little boxes with what I can make out to be four hexadecimal figures arranged in a 2x2 fashion. How do I make these display legitimately?

BTW, thanks for making the thread.

I don't know, set your browser to display Unicode? I guess that won't help for a lot of themif you don't read Japanese, had a retard moment there. :dead: I'll add a link to the discography section of this site as well (though it really could use a better arrangement).

Damn, I don't even know if I can cast a vote. Hybrid Rainbow had Beautiful Picture. Can you actually select two better pillows tracks? Though, maybe they don't git great together sonically...Neither to Trip Dancer and Lesser Hamster, if we're looking for a single that is both awesome and cohesive. RUSH is actually looking pretty cool - there are better A-sides, but She is Perfect and Sleepy Head both fit great with it. Rock and fuzz.

Ride On Shooting Star is tempting, I admit - but ROSS (while awesome) is a bit too straightforward, and Subhuman never did a hell of a lot for me. The band simply has many better songs.

With THR, I worry that I'm maybe getting a little tired of Terminal Heaven's Rock, and that Sick Vibration is just "pleasant" rather than "ridiculously amazing" like Over Amp.

Now I'm going back on myself and considering Trip Dancer/Hamster again - these songs are great representations of Sawao's golden era of really earnest choruses and vocals. So it becomes a battle between two-track singles, this and Tiny Boat/Patricia - both of which fit better as a unit. Instant Music/Ninny is great, but there's sort of a jarring difference between Sawao's cartoon vocal of IM and the tenderness of Ninny.

Fuck it all. It's going to Rush. It has a beginning, middle, and an end. Rush is a strong track, kicks it off loud and proud. She is Perfect is romantic and more mellow, but retains the fuzz. Everyone loves She is Perfect. Then finally, Sleepy Head comes in to kick everyone's ass. It's exhausting and leaves nothing on the table. It fades out, making you think "Wow. I want to do that again." The Rush single is the most cohesive single, sound-wise (well, arguably tied with No Self Control/Wonderful Sight/Nightmare). Either way. Even though Rush doesn't get a whole lot of love (let's face it, there are better songs on Happy Bivouac), I think it reigns supreme.

I think we can all agree that ALL songs on Happy Bivouac are mindblowing/amazing, RUSH is such a cool track :shred:

But I think my favorite has to be Swanky Street. All songs just flow together so well, they're all amazing tracks. It'd pick Carnival, but I'm not such a fan of those B-Sides. If we'd be going by A-Sides alone, Swanky Street ties with Carnival.

brb listening to Spiky Goose :groovin:

Pick Trip Dancer or Hybrid Rainbow, cause it should be SOMEONE'S favorite :(

It wasn't easy for me. It was way too close with it coming down to either Ride on Shooting Star or NO SELF CONTROL, with Swanky Street and Instant Music both being close behind, but I had to go with my old favorite NSC for this.

Now I'll just wait for Other:

"gazelle city lol"

Yea this is tough. Damn... I think I have to go with Carnival. You've got Curly Rudy and Come Down with it. Carnival is probably my 3rd favorite song by the pillows of all time, and then Curly Rudy has firmly been entrenched in my top 10 songs for over 5 years now. I loved it from the first time I heard it. While Come Down isn't their best b-side ever, it's stil a really fun song. Other choices I would say would be No Self Control and Hybrid Rainbow, maybe Trip Dancer too. No Self Control keeps going with that grunge kinda sound with Wonderful Sight. And like GR said, you have Hybrid Rainbow and Beautiful Picture paired up; it's a bad ass combo. And I just love Lesser Hamster in Blue, I was this close from making it my entry in the Youtube cover contest.

Oh god I can't do it.

I guess tiny boat, but I love them all. It seems most of their best songs were singles.

Rush, from cover, to video, to tracks, is just too tight to not win out here. Sono mirai wa ima, Terminal Heaven's Rock and New Animal get honorable mentions as well for cool b-sides.

That was my first instinct- and now chosen. Trip Dancer is just so...condescendingly grand..(if that makes any sense) to me and it's probably my favorite song off of PML. It's a funny coincidence that I'm in the middle of covering Lesser Hamster in Blue right now. That song has a unique sound. I wish the pillows had more songs like it.

I think my choice would change every day, but I'd say for b-side tracks, I'd go with I Think I Can, or Terminal Heaven's Rock. I also love the Tsuyogari cover on Scarecrow.

And let us not forget Gazelle City's remix.
