Post does older pillows stuff remind anyone else of rem?
it seems that rem and the pillows both started in the same kind of music... but each kind of went their own way.

i did go to an rem concert once... they rocked out a helluva lot harder than i expected from rem... maybe they're not as different as i think...

yeah, this moon gold stuff is reminding me of dead letter office... (yes, i know it's a cover album...)

"Hybrid Rainbow" is kind of R.E.M.-ish. I can picture Michael Stipe singing it with heart's content.

sorry...i think it's a good song. but i've only heard that one. i have no money, no internet, and rely wholly on my friend for getting music. i don't even remember the title (please don't hit me again). i'll look up which one it is tonight.

He may not; but I will.

*bonk!*

That's for not knowing such songs as "It's the End of the World," "Everybody Hurts," "Bang and Blame," and "Man on the Moon": the motherf**king Andy Kaufman song.

and even recently... "bad day" was a freaking great song.

ok, maybe it wasn't recently... they just never put it on an album... even though they played it live for 20 years prior...

you know, ill side with marekenshin for once. Who really cares if he doesn't know? I personally don't care for R.E.M, i've heard "The End of the World" which is a pretty cool song, but not much thought was put into that song anyway. And the big differance between REM and the Pillows is that the pillows are much better.

I like the pillows better, too, but REM is a fucking awesome band.

REM was one of the first real bands I got into when they released "Out of Time". I liked their next two albums as well, but I haven't been really into them for a long time. I still love a lot of their old stuff though. Their lyrics are really random. Michael Stipes is an odd man.

Moon Gold is probably the only Pillows' album I don't really like. Not one song off that album is on my iPod at the moment. I think I'll give th album another shot. I love practically everything else that's early Pillows.

A bunch of old Pillows reminds me of The Smiths.

Am I wrong?!
