I saw an ad for this musical in the paper the other day and realized I had never wondered about where the titles for some of his songs come from. Just like Paper Moon and so many others, this classic pillows song is based off an old film.

Yeah I thought it was kind of obvious too. I mean even from all the other parodies out there. Maybe Lonesome Diamond is the same. Singin' in the Pain!  love that song by the way.

Okay I need some reassurance to what the official translation of the title to this song really is.. Is it "Singing in the Rain" or "If you can sing in the rain"? Mare..I'm wating for you

I don't know if there's an "official" translated title, but it means "If you sing in the rain," for what it's worth. @Sheer: Yeah, I think I've heard that before, but never seen the movie, and just didn't ever think of the connection until recently. Don't worry about it, I'm a little slow on the uptake. |
