I couldn't help but notice that Sato isn't given much appreciation or recognition for his work. I was watching my HWTBTHZ dvd and kept noticing Sato drumming like a BEAST. For instance the opening to "I want to be Sullivan" was amazing, he had so much energy during that live show. I mean it was also in Strange Chameleon and Swanky Street. I noticed him more than usual. So I wanted to make a thread dedicated to his work and contribution to the pillows. ![]() Here are the videos for those who don't have the DVD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mt2lDem9b8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Epo_epYX_rg I have to put this here too : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuQ3BkhYIO8 |

Well, In the Piper Piper Go To Yesterday, he had hordes of fangirls screaming "BAMBI-CHAN <3333" and "SHIN-CHAN~" But in terms of music[ality], he really does deserve more recognition, some pillows songs wouldn't be the same without him Even Jun gets more recognized ![]() |

I give Satou more of a "silent recognition". True, he doesn't do much on the drums in the newer stuff. But we all know he's BEAST. Just looking at live footage of Shin playing those drums, you know he's hardcore. |

I don't know what this garbage of "his drumming isn't as good on the new work" is about, apparently nobody's really paying attention. Your loss. ![]() |

I don't think the drumming lately is anywhere as near as intricate as it has been in the past. Not saying he's lost any of his flare (I've seen in live performances of songs that Shin is still drum master), but lately the songs haven't been calling for Sato's full potential BEAST MODE. |

Listen to Century Creepers and tell me the drumming isn't awesome. The thing that a lot of you people don't seem to realize about drumming is that 90% of the time you AREN'T DOING ANYTHING AMAZING. The drums are the backbone, they're there to keep the rhythm and drive the song along, not to be the focus. You want drums to be the focus, go listen to a Rush drum solo or something. |

I know that drums aren't supposed to be the "main focus", but still, Shin's drumming sounds cooler the farther back you go. I don't know. The drums sound good in general, but all of the most amazing HAXORZ I've seen Shin doing have been on older songs. Of course, it's not like the drumming is like that in ALL new songs. Century Creepers is amazing live before of Shin on those drums. That's the only reason I watch that shit. ![]() |

three words: BEAUTIFUL. FUCKING. PICTURE. I love his drumming. He never really does anything all that complex, he keeps it simple, but original. |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D10Gkco1vkc
Fucking hardcore. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves, for not mentioning TWILIGHT PARK WALTZ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxGAkTtAUnw Hardcore drumming. Hardcore everything. I also agree, Century Creepers, Beautiful Picture, and Last Triangle all have amazing drumming. Shin-Chan is amazing. He really gives the band a distinct personality, both musically and otherwise. |

Its true that most of their newer songs don't have the same flare, they still have great rythm and work out no matter what. Century Creepers is one of those rare cases where Sato was given the opportunity to dish out more than usual. I think that the only reason for his not so beast-mode drumming on a lot of their new stuff is because of the theme of the song and how it affects the rythm and beat of the drums. I mean, look at Tokyo Bambi, its not like he could go all Blues Driver Monster on that particular song as well as others. I'm hoping that Sato will put more into their upcoming single! ![]() |

Haven't any of you watched the PV?! ![]() |
