What does Sawao use to create the beep sound that he uses in the opening of TYMT and in his solo project My Room is Delicious? |

Generally people refer to those things as "synth" as opposed to MIDI, but shore. |

I'd call it a midi simply because when I think synth, I think synthy-synth like the Killer's Read My Mind. |

You realize that while synth is a name for a type of keyboard sound effect, MIDI is a name for a type of sound file? |

Yeah, I knew that. But it's a type of sound file that's associated with those types of bleeps and bloops. |

Yeah, and it is entirely possible that he just plays back a MIDI file to get that sound, but the MIDI file is played via a synth, like how they played all of the extra sounds for the Wake up! tour. |

midi is also a way of transfering sound data that only sends three parameters: instrument, pitch and volume... ironicaly it uses old (have you guys even ever used these?) keyboard cables (qwerty)! THE MORE YOU KNOW |

Synthesizers (at least traditionally) work by playing pre-rendered MIDI files. Synth is not a type of "music file". |
...what? Nobody said that SYNTH was a type of music file dude.
Yes, but people seem to think that synthesizers draw their audio from some source that is not MIDI. Synthesizers came about when MIDI technology came more prevalent. What I'm saying is Synthesizers used MIDI technology to work, so if you wanted to be specific, it would be most appropriate to refer to the electronic "beeps" in TYMT as MIDI. Basically, this is a stupid topic, and my post was unnecessary. ![]() |
