Alright, I was inspired to do this after remembering how amazing this performance of Thank You, My Twilight is:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=tmUDMEchSNA
Comes in around 2:20, right before the solo:

"Tokiori dareka ga tou
'Itsu made doko made mukau ki ka' to
Baby, doko made demo!!"

"Sometime they'll ask
"How long, how far does that feeling go?"
Baby, however far you want"

Then Manabe crashes in with his solo and I think it may be my favorite pillows "moment" ever.
So there's that, and then the line "nanimo fuan janai (I've got no worries)" right at the end of Crazy Sunshine's chorus. Hearing that makes me feel carefree and really...content. It's a good one.

What about you? What line (try for a line, not a verse) really hits you hard? Japanese or English. Which lyric really makes you "feel it" the most?

Actually, isn't it "How long, how far do you feel like going?/are you willing to go?"?

More on topic:

My song is your song is always a good one.

"kowai mono shirazu de jidai wa hashagimawari
boku to kimi no sugoshita PEEJI wa yaburisarare
rekishi ni wa kachi no nai kaseki no hitotsu ni naru no sa
aa, kimi to deaete yokatta na"
"This era frolicked about without knowing fear
The page we spent together will be torn out
and become another worthless fossil in history
Ah, I'm glad I got to meet you"

It tears at my heart every time I hear it. This single little part is enough to convince me that Sawao is a brilliant lyricist. There are many, many more lines that I find to be absolutely amazing, but this is definitely among the very best.

lol will do. I think some of the stuff translated a while back, especially all the stuff translated by "rullian" or whatever it was could use some retouching/redoing.

'Our halley's comet'.

Zutto zutto futari de itai yo - I always always want to be with you

Also 'Funny bunny'.

Kimi no yume ga kanau no wa / Dare ka no okage janai ze - it's all up to you to make your dreams come true

Yeeeah there's a number of things I could correct in some of those old translations... :X

I'm up for doing a full retranslation of Please Mr. Lostman, some of those hurt my eyes when I read them. No offense to the person who did them. D;

There are tons of these, but I have a few top faves...

My song is your song ofcourse.

Also from FotP:
Mado no soto wa kyou mo sentouki ga
Aoi tori no uta wo keshite
Fujiyuu de tsubasa de tobu

Today, outside my window a war plane
Drowns out the song of a bluebird
Flying with unsteady wings

Strange Chameleon.- "Suguni pachin to oto ga shite hajikete shimau maboroshi demo
Te no hira ga mada atatakai"

Even if it’s an illusion that bursts with the sound of a snap
The palm of my hand is still warm

Ice Pick-"Itsumo
Ima yori niau basho ga
Dokoka ni aruyouna ki ga shiteru"

I always feel
like there’s a place better for me than here
Somewhere out there

Black Sheep- "Yasashii kotoba datte
Shitteita noni omoidasenai"

Even if I knew any kind words
I can't remember them

Followed by my signature.

That last line is just wonderful, and I don't think I can really describe it further.

Great idea for a thread, GoldenRhino. To name but a few:

Tiny Boat
Futari de noreru chiisana fune wo mitsuketa
(by the glimmering riverside)

I just love the way he says it in the middle of the song and in the end as well, in English.

Sonna fuu ni Sugoshitai
Dare ni nani wo iwaretemo
Kamawanai, kowakunai
Sabishikutemo isoga nai
Sonna fuu ni sugoshitai

(No matter what anyone says
I just don't care, I'm not afraid
Even if I'm lonely, I'm in no hurry
I wanna live that way)

There are many other examples (Something like a romance ), but I think those two are just enough to explain that in the first time I heard Sawao singing this lines, I couldn't get a word (quite obvious, because I don't know more than 10 words in Japanese), but they sounded very positive and uplifting to me. And then I saw the translations, and remembered Sawao's "I believe music has no borders, no race and is timeless...".

Something like a romance

Stinging pain, tears pouring down,
making me remember I could be hurt.
It's my fault, but even though it can't be helped,
it's so sad.

In Front of a Locked Door

If I could really walk in this way, I wouldn't need anything else.
In my heart, the traffic lights are yellow.
Even today, forever unchanging.

NATIVE WORLD

Forever overflowing, this unparalleled emotion
filled me up at a lenient speed.
With childish means, I went ahead and broke through.
On the far side of unconsciousness, that world is waiting.

Shit sons, this is a thread where I would just keep contininuing to add shit on until I've probably mentioned something from nearly every song.

Fool on the Planet
Beginning: WHOOOA YEEEEEAAAAHAHAAA~! Best oh reah evar.
4th verse: Waraenai hayari sukuenai MIZARII
Kimi to shagande ochibureta machi no
Deguchi wo sagashiteru

I can't laugh, I can't come out of this deep misery
You and I crouched together, searching
For a way out of this ruined town

Monster C.C.
Suwaritai ukabitai
Nemuritai yumemitai
Yumemitai yumemitai
Yume mitai na yumemitai

Swanky Street
The chorus is just epic...

Meh, that's all I'm going to put for now, otherwise I'd just go through the entire discography and list things for hours on end.

No matter what shoes I put on,
If I walk, I’ll leave footprints
And if they stop some place,
They’re the proof that I got that far
