Post subject:  Moon Gold vs. White Incarnation

These two albums are both very awesome, but you can bet that I like White Incarnation TONS more than Moon Gold.

Moon Gold is pretty good, but it can never hold my interests for long. I get bored after I get pass If You Sing in the Rain. The first six tracks are exactly that: Moon Gold. My favorites include This is My Fashion, I Need Somebody, and I Think it's Gonna Rain (If You Sing in the Rain is really good too, but not quite as good as I Think it's Gonna' Rain, IMO). After If You Sing in the Rain, the album kinda' falls off for me, as the songs all start to sound kinda... boring. Hello (Halo?) Girl is the song that I love after track six, but the rest are just OK.

White Incarnation, on the other hand, gets progressively more AWESOME the farther you go on. The first few tracks are very nice (Pumpkin and Sister), and the following songs that are very slow and relaxing (Sitting on a Paper Moon and Right here like This) set a certain spell over you (they seriously used to make me bored until I got them in my system). After those two, you get I Want to be Salivan. Awesome song. Then, you get to Hey, I Don't Care: MY FAVORITE SONG ON THE ALBUM. I love the subtle introduction with Shin and Sawao, and then the constantly stressed but cool and constant modulations the song goes through. Blue March comes up next and it has a really nice chorus, with Sawao hitting some beautiful harmonies. Next you have Dawn has Come, which has the most chill chorus EVAR. Then TONIGHT, which is just... yeah. It's TONIGHT, a good song. Really good. Then Our Halley's Comet (LOL I don't think I need to say anything about this song, it speaks for itself). And Good Night finishes the album with heart warming harmonies as well.

Anyways, which do you prefer? Moon Gold or White Incarnation?

I love both. They're both happy, and innocent. I loved most of the songs on Moon Gold, especially Hello Girl. 90's My Life is beautiful too, and it has the title track, which I love.

I love both, but WI definitely has the edge in my mind, especially with Halley being one of my favorite pillows songs...ever.

Agreed. I still like the Turn Back version more though.

I think some turn back songs, like Halley's comet, were better than the original in a lot of ways, but some were better as the originals (like kimi to boku to otsukisama).

Yeah, the ending of Halley's Comet is much more expressive in Turn Back...

But I don't know... the original had a sound that I digged, and Sawao's voice from the early days is just cool. I like both, can't say if I like the WI or Turn Back albums better than the other.

White Incarnation.

I'm not crazy about Moon Gold as a whole. I am kinda :| towards half the album, but the other half I couldn't live without.

Definiteyl WI. I'd have to say Moon Gold is my least favorite album, but there's still a few good songs on there. Ame ni Uteba, Asoko he Kaeritai, This is My Fashion. But WI was such a big step forward I think. Most of those songs are amazing, and I've really fallen in lov with Sitting on a Paper Moon lately. I lvoe that solo. :)

Got to say I like the TB version of Our Halley's Comet more, but the original is still pretty good. Also have to say the same for Kimi to boku Otsuki-sama. I think the original version is just too long and drawn out, the pacing is just too slow. I'm glad they picked it up a notch on the TB version, it worked wonders for it.

I like them equally... well, almost. I think I like WI a bit more.

Moon Gold is a good album, I especially like the last track and Dear, My 'First' Step.

White Incarnation, however, is simply phenomenal, and I honestly think it's one of the best albums I've ever heard in my life. There's really not a weak song on the whole thing.

Really? In my opinion, the speed and tone they play it on Turn Back, as well as the way he sings it, loses that earnest, pained feeling of the original recording, and doesn't do the song and its lyrics true justice when you compare it to the original.

My feelings exactly. It's the reason I like it so much. When I listened, I realized that there wasn't I song that I really felt like skipping. Of course, the two slow songs took some getting used to, but once you get the album in your system... it just seems perfect.

A lot of people saw Kool Spice was there 'breakthrough' album (well, the first step up for the band), but musically, I think White Incarnation is pretty damn good. I don't like to compare it to the newer albums, but I think that I enjoy WI more than a lot of some of the newer stuff, I mean I can just listen and chill, and I never think "AW MAN, I HATE THIS SONG, TIME TO SKIP!"

I always thought people saw KOOL SPICE as a breakthrough album because it was when they left Kenji behind and joined a new record label.

Wait a second, don't people usually count Please Mr. Lostman as the breakthrough album? :eh:
