So in my Music Theory class, I'm doing this project in which I have to pick and song and analyze it, also to make up questions about it. I'm tossed up on Elliott Smith, Arctic Monkeys, the Beatles, or the pillows. More leaning towards Elliott Smith or the pillows because the other two are already really well known. Anyway point of thread, if I DO pick a pillows song (probably), which song should I do. It has to be an intricate song, at least good musically, that I can base 5 questions on (musically). My first instinct was TYMT. The main cohrd progression can make a good question, and I can do something about the 'beep beep boop boop bop' part. Anyway, what are some other good ones. |

Anything off of Kool Spice, especially 'Koi No Spy Ni Kiwotsukero.' 'Tonight' off of White Incarnation would be another good one. Those are my picks. |

Smile maybe? I'm not well-versed with this kind of stuff at all, but it's the first that came to my head. |

Kool Spice has a lot of really cool interactions between the parts. Pretty much 90% of pillows songs have fairly standard chord progressions, but there are some that have really interesting interplay between vocal melody and lead guitar/bass. |

Girls Don't Cry, ftw. If not, consider: Kim Deal, Sha-la-la-lla, Back Seat Dog, Plastic Flower, etc. |
Plastic Flower
No. I second Kool Spice/some of White Incarnation. |

Metal2Hedgehog is picking all these songs that I'd choose. Anyway, I'd do Swanky Street, other than those that Metal suggested. |

I'd probably pick Smile like sonic3305. White Incarnation/Kool Spice stuff would be interesting, no doubt, but if the 'category' is Elliot Smith/Beatles/Artic Monkeys/Pillows, then maybe it's more to the point to pick a song with more basic chord progression and then think about what makes the song so special. |
