Don't think you can afford the Austin show? Read this
This info seems to be getting lost in the shuffle, so I'll make it its own topic in hopes that it will help at least someone who was thinking they wouldn't be able to go.
There are three types of admission during SXSW. In order of relevance to the general IM community:
1 - At the club's discretion (and depending on their capacity), they will admit individuals on a particular night for a cover fee like normal (probably in the $10-$20 range) but you are lowest priority after badge holders and wristband holders so you better get in line early or make friends with the manager.
2 - They sell a wristband that lets you get into whatever you want in the festival, but priority is after badge holders. Most wristbands have already been sold to Austin area residents only, however, more wristbands may be available at the festival for $175.
3 - The $600 badge lets you get into whatever you want through the entire music festival, first priority. For the most part these badges are held by people in the music industry who are getting paid to go to SXSW, not by average music fans.

There is no 100% guarantee that you will get in with option #1 (or even #2), but I'd say chances are decent since the Pillows are the last act of the night and Japan night isn't exactly all super popular acts. A couple folks did do this in 2005.
