Post Pillows at Anime Boston
Looking at the Anime Boston website, The Pillows will also have an open panel on Sunday for several hours and after that another autograph session. Any questions that you want to be answered? Also theres no photography or video allowed during the concert, I'll try to get pics somehow....

Well ask them if they plan to expand their tour next year and come back to places like Chicago and Mexico next time they come out this way. :?

Terra, you should mention to them that as admin of the English fan forum, you mainly see people commenting how they wish the pillows would play more varied sets, especially since this is the third time they've toured in the States. I wanted to tell them that, but never got a chance to.

^^ That would work out perfectly I think. Hopefully Sawao and the others will give it some thought. Just too bad Boston has to be the last stop on the tour.

It'd be too late for this tour anyway, it's not like they have time to practice songs for an entirely different set between the shows they're doing.

True, I guess. But one would think that the band still would kind of know how to play something like Cherry or Wonderful Sight from the LGTY tour.

well obviously, but most bands just don't take requests. we should be grateful that they even take the time to tour here and make way less than they do doing shows in japan.

Im gonna be there and ill be taping the show too ! I can't believe they will actually be in Boston, Ive waited so long for them. Does anyone know is they'll play playing a long or short set ? like how many songs do you think they'll have time for based on the other shows already played on this tour ?

I'd say longer going off of what they did at ACEN. Plus, I don't think The Noodles will be with them, so I'd imagine they'd do at least a 15 song set or something.

Does anyone remember the set list for this? I know some of the tracks (Wake Up, SINNERS, O.L., S.H., ROSS, N.A.), but can't remember the whole thing.

I wrote it down.

I think I can
Rock 'n' roll sinners
Carnival
Wake up! dodo
Blues drive monster
One life
Crazy Sunshine
Last Dinosaur
New animal (?)
(some song I didn't recognize.. it sounded like he was saying 'hello mr groovy' a lot)
Ride on shooting star
Busters
Hybrid Rainbow
Sleepy head

Encore 1: Funny bunny
encore 2: Advice

Some of the stuff from the Q&A panel:
- worst part about touring the US: flying
- best part about touring the US: HAMBURGER (sawao)
- Sawao likes to play paraparapa (I'm not sure whether he meant 'para para' or 'parapa the rapper'... maybe somebody with better ears remembers)
- Apparently Manabe is playing Persona and Shin likes to play Final Fantasy
- future US tour? (and I quote) 'MAYBE'
- why did they decide to tour the US? no particular reason (I have to wonder if something got lost in translation here...)
- why are they wearing shades (to the panel)? to look like rock stars. Sawao lifted his glasses up and went 'ordinary man!', then put them back on- 'rock star!'
- same old questions about their favorite band, how they got their name, why do they like to use english words in their songs, etc
- what are their favorite english words? Sawao: ... (thinks about it for a while and doesn't really answer) Manabe: 'SHOW ID PLEASE' - they commented how in Japan they don't check for ID a lot but in the US they do, it's kind of a compliment when they do it when you're obviously old enough ?
- who speaks the best english? Manabe
- favorite album/project? the new (next) one
- someone did ask if they would play older songs, Sawao says he can't because he doesn't know them anymore
- do they get a better reaction when they play FLCL songs? 'MOCHIRON!' (of course)
- is Irene in that song that has the word sunshine in it named after Irene from Ninja Gaiden? (yeah someone really asked this) no, but the 'Irene' is from Gattaca (Uma Thurman) which is kinda cool
- what's the strangest question you've been asked? your question!
- what Japanese bands do you recommend? ELLEGARDEN, Straightener, Chatmonchi (I think?), Bump of Chicken, the Pees, etc
- do you have a 'home' venue? Penny Lane

Summary: it was fun and all, but I think I'll be choosing to not go to a con again for the pillows... unbelievable that it took almost 4 hours to get a badge (preregistered), and lining up 2+ hours ahead of time for the concert gets you a seat halfway to the back. I knew it would be a lot of people but it was ridiculous... (moreso the badge thing)

Oh and last but not least as they were leaving the Q&A, Sawao pointed at me and said 'I REMEMBER YOU!'

edit: added more stuff I remembered
