JUN IS ACTUALLY IN THIS PV. OMG OMG OMG.

On a separate note:

The "Oh! YEAH!" sign cracked me up. But, I'm more blah about the song right now, even though it obviously reminds me of LIBERTY with the horns. It seems very lackluster, but maybe it'll grow on me. Maybe.

Also, Sawao's dancing was confusing/infuriating/entertaining?

Pros:
Jun
reminiscent of Liberty?
the drums in the very beginning excited me
the "Oh Yeah!!"
apparently the bass is good, but I can't tell with these speakers.
Manabe's effect fill is sort of interesting.
The b-sides, Go! Go! Jupiter and Across the Metropolis have the potential to be better.

Cons:
The solo was standard Manabe "lol, I'm not even trying and I can come up with something listenable". More inspiration next time, plz.
Same amount of energy for about 5 minutes without enough distinction between the verse and the chorus. It needs more "breathing room".

Anyway. A good notch down from Ladybird Girl, but...hell, if it's anything like Ladybird Girl, I'll fall in love with it in a few weeks or so. I dunno.

I guess for some reason, the name made me think of Gazelle City, which raised my hopes too much.

JUN IN IT TOO. AWESOME.

Also, I'm glad he's got another great bassline in this song. The little thing Manabe (and I'm presuming Sawao) does right before the chorus (thirds, lol, right Sheer?) is great, and here's another great "OH YEAH!" to add to the list.

EDIT: oh yeah, the solo. Well, the second half of it was more interesting than Lbg's solo in general, especially that sweet pinch harmonic at the end of it, but the first half felt almost out of place with the rest of the song to me.

I'm sorry to say I'm going to have to be totally predictable and say this song is awesome.

I think this is a major step up from Ladybird Girl, and the whole sound from wake up in general. It's fun that he's revisiting ska. Sawao is a big Ska fan and one of his favorite bands is Madness.

Where the holy hell did this come from.

It is awesome alone on the merits of the PV. Those fuckin' horns!

Haha, awesome! This showed up out of nowhere, but I love it! The horns and the whole song are amazing! I seriously can't wait for the single now! :)

Well, the PV itself was one of the best I've seen in a while. It's awesome that Jun is in it, and the OH YEAH! sign is just too funny. But I dunno about the song itself.
It's not really that bad of a song overall, but after these first few listens I'm not too impressed. The first part of Manabe's solo sounds like Serious Plan's, and it's an average solo at best. So I don't udnerstand how this can be a major step-up from WUx3, I could see this being on that album. The horns are cool for the most part, all though I wonder how they do this song live. I'm guessing they just have the horn part pre-recorded. But the bass line sounds interesting, unfortuantely it's Youtube quality, so hopefully once I hear the clean version the song might stand out more.
So based on my first impressions, I'm just going to say the song is decent and hopefully it will grow on me. But as of right now, the pillows latest releases have gone like this for me in terms of favoritism:

My Foot>WUx3>Ladybird Girl>Tokyo Bambi

Obviously that's the order they were released in as well. So I hope this pattern breaks by the time the new album rolls around, and Tokyo Bambi's B-sides are better as well.

The pv was awesome. As for the song Im just happy the horns aren't polyphonic.

OMFG! This is the funniest pillows video I've ever seen! I'm glad to see the four of them actually having fun making what looks like a bunch of kids recording a lip-synching concert in their Mom's basement.

I wonder if the guys on the horns are from Tokyo Ska Paradise. They're on the same label, after all.

I must be going crazy...a good chunk of people are not liking the new song...and i'm going crazy over it. sure the solo is kinda generic, but still. Well i am a big ska guy, and i have listened to a lot of Madness, which is prolly where Sawao got the inspiration for this song, so maybe if you like Madness you will like this song.

I've never even heard of Madness, much less Sawao liking them.

Also, yeah, those horns are Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra. I'm sure Manabe wrote the actual music for the horns though, it has a sort of Nine Miles touch to it.

Well the reason i know Sawao likes Madness is because i saw an interview with the pillows and calmagazine.

go to www.calmagazine.com
go to the music channel (channel 9)
look for the pillows interview

It is not the best interview by any means, but it still has some cool information in there.
