Post Manabe time warp
I noticed this some months ago, and it really confused me, but I ended ignoring it. It's at Scarecrow Bonus DVD. Now I was checking again and it's really weird how manabe changes his head position from one frame to the next one after it. Not only his head, the rest too.

If you have it, check at 2:42.

what do you say?

He looked down as the camera changed. Simple as that. Lock.

HEY wait a minute! i really think sometimes you guys are locking topics too early. sometimes i have a doubt about a topic but then it's already locked and i rather not open another one just to clarify that.

now pay attention. before camera changing he is looking foward. then suddenly he's looking back to the arm of the guitar.
in the first take his right arm has already gone up, in the second it's still going up. my player can show frame by frame and it really isn't just camera angles. look to the light that is on his face before the camera changes and after.

I see what you're talking about.

Everyone: at 0:05, Manabe's looking forward, towards the mic.
when the camera cuts at 0:06, he's immediately looking towards the guitar neck.

I'm not entirely sure how they edited the video, but I doubt it'd leave room for the type of "error" you're implying.

Maybe there was a little discrepancy, combined with Manabe's quick head-moving actions.

It probably has something to do with the microphone stand blocking your view of his face when the camera angle switches. It's not an editing error.

it's likely that they wanted a close-up of manabe but at that particular point in the performance there wasn't a great shot, so they just took a clip of him playing that part from earlier/later in the performance and used that instead for this section of the video. his head position is a bit of a continuity error i suppose, but it isn't too much of a noticeable one.

unless this was televised live somewhere, this was edited together after the fact from all of the cameras they had, so it's not too unusual to swap around video segments a bit if the instruments still line up to the song.

or a glitch in the matrix or something. i don't know.

yeah, that's what i think it is. i think before that part, they play the chorus once and both times manabe plays that part before, he is not shown.

ok, that's all i had to say, many opinions have been said.

it's ok to lock now

a) Why the hell do you assume every topic is going to get locked?

b) I don't see any discrepancy, it looks like he just moves his head up.

a) I can't remember exactly, but there was one topic or another that was locked where I still wanted to say something on it. Then [Mr. Lostman] almost ignored this thread and just said 'blah blah, lock', so I thought that might happen. It's ok, forget the locking stuff.

b) Well, I really can see something in this video. It would be better to check a better than youtube quality video. But well, I posted this to see what would be your opinions.

It's fairly hard to notice unless you're REALLY looking for it, if only because of where he is on screen. In the first shot, Manabe's head is front-and-center, and after the cut he's on the extreme right and really small. Unless you know the exact spot his head will show up next and you're already watching it, after the cut you will have to find him again, and in that small amount of time it takes your head sort of "accepts" that his head must have already moved. so it's a pretty effective little editing trick in this case. if manabe was also in the middle in the second shot it wouldn't work so well. i don't know if i'm explaining it very clearly, i seem to have a case of the stupid-mouth. or fingers.

either he moved his head back really fast and the shadows/mic made the movement harder to detect and he started the moment the camera cut away. I mean, you can turn your head pretty damn fast. like a flash.

or as Sonic said, they used a better clip and spliced it in at that particular moment.
