So, what exactly is this influence or connection between the movie and the song?

The title? :eh:

Yeah, that's a pretty weak connection, Mare. Might as well say Sawao's ripping off John Cougar Mellencamp.

I guess we'd have to have seen the movie to know for sure. Did Sawao say something about this, or did someone just guess?

Well this is IM so I imagine there is no chance of this information being false. Frontiers was influenced by Journey after all. Just like Juliet was 50% influenced by Romeo and Juliet.

He remarked about it on a post about the newest interview in the ongaku to hito magazine, and considering the fact that he probably knows far more about the pillows than any of us, I'm willing to bet he's right. He said that Sullivan ni naritai, Patricia, Pari no josei Marie, and apparently Scarecrow are all songs about movies.

It influenced a part of lyrics and the title.

Lyrics of the Scarecrow are feelings to the band member. (manabe and satou)

I noticed while reading a book in my english class called "The Stranger", the protagonist sees this girl named Marie and apparently they talk about getting married in Paris or something. And if I'm not mistaken the title translates to something along the lines of Paris's female Marie? Probably a coincidence but I just thought I would bring it up.

this is true.

scarecrow (in the movie) refers to unbreakable friendship, and his song is about his band mates, whom he wants to be with until the end.

That was a good book. :) He saw life as pointless. Even if he died. it wouldn't matter. So sawao must of paid CLOSE attention to the paris thing.

Sawao said one of his favorite animes was Evangelion which is pretty similar to "The Stranger" in it's existentialism theme. It would also explain his love for the word stranger.
