If THE PILLOWS were from America
who do you think would be the American Equivalent of the Pillows
or conversely, Do you think any band in recent history reminds you of The Pillows?

No.
They are the only band I have ever known that are as they are.

I've never heard an American band that sounds like them, which is why I like them so much. They have such a unique style to music.

The closest American Pillows equivalent I can think of is Ted Leo.
Who you should all check out.

Ditto; but perhaps a crossover of Ted Leo and the Pixies (circa 1989).

I suppose you are all avoiding the old weezer comparisons because that would be comparing them to a now sucky band? but seriously, I've heard some stuff on the radio recently that reminds me of the new single.

Weezer, perhaps sometimes.
But I will never be able to comprehend how the pillows sound like the Pixies.

I've always thought of them as the Eagles as far as popularity goes...
They've had their prime, they're a bit older now, but they still rock and still maek kick ass music. Plus they still have a decent fanbase.
Of course music wise, the comparison fails...

Yeah, too bad the Eagles have the best-selling record of all time, and the pillows don't.

I actually was going to compare them to Weezer and I have before. They both make some really quirky tracks I guess you could say. I think TYMT (song) kind of sounds Weezer-esque

some of their songs are very similar... Thank you, my twilight uses the same chord progression in the chorus that the Pixies used for Wave of Mutilation.

Clearly Tupac and Frank Zappa. I also detect a hint of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and a distinct aftertaste of Iron Maiden.
I'm completely missing the Pixies, however. It is unfortunate for the chef, as it is clearly written on the menu. I trust my pallet, the chef has omitted the Pixies for one reason or another. It's not a bad thing, the dish was still very good, it is just dishonest for the chef to present it without informing us of the omitted Pixies beforehand. Yes, I can deduce with 100% of my brain that there is no Pixies in this dish.
