When I saw you were translating WotS I immediately thought of translating from English to Portuguese. Now I'm doing it, but I have some doubts.
I know your translation isn't 100% accurate, but I'm sure it's far enough for all of us, and as you, I want to do it for us, Brazillians. So please, I'd like anybody's help just to confirm my doubts and check if I'm right or what...


1. "manabe: in the beginning I was thrown around, as a guitarist, by the words rock and roll, which appeared in various places."

does 'throw around' mean "classified"? does that mean people used to see and call him as a rock and roll guitarrist?


2. "yamanaka: I guess in a way it was hard to understand. Just playing good music, even for a critic of music, is hard to put the right words to, I think. (...)"

does 'critic' mean the one who criticizes? or it has a meaning of professional?


3. So, does anybody know what shin-chan meas when he says 'I like dry'?


4. Kenzi and the Trips was the band where Shin and Ueda used to play, right?


5. "yamanaka: my guitar sucked. The two of us basically had our heads in our arms, it was really bad."

is there another way to say that they both had their heads in their arms?


6. Talking Heads is a band, right? Is that right? Manabe wanted to be a part of it? And what about 'Police'? Does he mean [i]The Police[/i], or he talks about being a police officer?


Well, that's all for now. I believe my quenstions are easy for you to answer. And I suggest that anyone's other questions should be written in here too...

2. He means music critics. He's saying that they had an overall good sound that was hard for most people to describe.

5. I think he means they had their heads in their hands, meaning their were ashamed of their performances.

6. Yeah, he means the Police, the band with Sting, and the Talking Heads. He was joking.

1. I'm not sure I understand the Japanese that sentence came from. "furimawasu" is to flourish or show off, so maybe it's saying he was shown off as a guitarist when people talked about rock or something? I doubt it means what Replica was thinking though. From looking at the Japanese, I can't really figure it out, but from what kuru put in the English, I'd say it seems more like since he wasn't really a rock and roll guitarist, having those as the keywords for their style sort of tossed him around a bit or something.

it's 'why' in the place of 'because', right? but even if you correct this, i still have some difficults in understanding this sentence. what does he mean with 'a band like band'? i'd say he wishes to say it's a band like any other, but that would unmatch with what he said right before about being an uncommon band.

10. Haven't heard the original Japanese, but from the context it sounds to me like he's saying that the pillows was an unusual band, which he was aware of because he was a part of it, but others might not have been. "A band like band" I'm not so sure about.
