What do you like about The Pillows?
I got into Pillows music around four years ago, when my friend Joe told me about them. I listened to some of their music on the internet and loved it, which is what made me interested in FLCL[THe opposite of most cases]. I guess what I like about their music is how unique it is, the melodies, the lyrics, all different. Each song has an emotion.
What got you into/keeps you into the Pillows music?

personally i was at first mainly attracted by the fact that i was really digging japanese music at the time and it didnt matter what band i came across...as long as it was japanese.
then after i passed out of that phase i started listening and realizing that really really really dig the up beat melodies, the joy, and the excitement in their lyrics and just the overall sound.

Back in 04, I was watching some weird anime and wasn't quite sure what was going on since I missed the first episoe. I persevered however, rocking out to the music until the fourth episode where this kid beats the shit out of this giant hand thing and then Little Busters started to play. It was from that moment I determined that the music was really good and worth a look into, so I watched the credits roll, scanning for the music artist. 'Lo and behold the pillows showed up so I looked into it.

I liked their music from FLCL but didnt really listen to their other stuff. But a friend told me that the Pillows were gonna be in NY during the summer, so I thought why not. After the Knitting Factory, i got hooked.

I first found out about the pillows after watching Beck anime, I've wanted to listen to more jrock and I naturally came across the pillows. I didn't like them at first, and now I love them. I like how they keep on making each album more or less different than the other one, and.. There's magic in them.
I also love watching/listening Manabe guitar play. Damm that sounds gay. X_X

I first heard of the pillows from my brother, who watched FLCL. He told me that the music was pretty good, and I tried listening to it, him specifically having me listen to HYBRID RAINBOW and LITTLE BUSTERS. And Ride on shooting star at some point. And I liked the stuff pretty well, so I got what he had from him, maybe 10 or so songs, probably all ones that were in FLCL. I liked the music more the more I listened to it, and after a bit I decided that I wanted more. So I went to torrentspy, typed in the pillows, and voila. I downloaded a "discography." Of course, Smile and Thank you, my twilight were incomplete, but most of the major releases were there. I listened to a lot of random songs, actually put the entire thing in a giant playlist and listened to them randomly. I got hooked on Funny Bunny, HYBRID RAINBOW, Midnight Down, and others...discovered ONE LIFE. Other random songs like Orange film garden, Vain dog (in rain drop), and STAND UP AND GO stuck out to me. I don't know why I remember those specifically, but I do. Then I started listening to the albums in full, and the love spread from there.
I just thought that the music was truly good for once, refreshing. It's fun, it's rockin', it's unique (every song), and it's emotional. I really got into the music, and I still do. It's hard to describe, I guess...but you guys all know the appeal. It's good stuff.

Everyone would go gay for Manabe. Or so it seems.

Well, the first song I heard by them was Carnival. (The full version)
the first time I listened to it, I got chills down my spine. It was so great, and it was upbeat and not whiney. The Pillows are actually what got me into music as a whole. before them, I didnt really listen to anything other than classical and some jazz. They opened a whole new world for me.
