Ok so, I'm gonna buy a CD this weekend, one full CD or two singles...the only CD's I don't have from HMV are Good Dreams and Synchronized Rockers. But then there's the predators CD, which I've heard an excerpt of and loved...and tehn there are the singles, of which I onyl have ROSS. So whatcha think is my best bet?

Well out of all the things you mentioned you don't have I would go with Syncronized Rockers. It's fun to listen to the covers and there are some good ones on it. Good Dreams isn't a fantastic CD, but has a couple strong tracks (and real weak ones). I'm not sure what you were listening to by the Predators but overall the mini album wasn't a breakthrough to say the least. Also it seems like most people get angry when you talk about the Predators...
Although none of those cds are THAT great, S. Rockers gets the nod from me.

There's plently of good and great singles out there, so any one of them could be a safe bet. But of course it's your choice whether you want to buy a single or two, or an album.

Also, dont buy Moon Gold. Theres no real point unless you want it just so you can have all the pillows cds. I bought it a while ago cause I thought it was a good find, but until they start running out of copies, I would ignore it.

I know most people around here, if nto all, aren't too fond of MG. But yeah, my intentions are to get them all.

I saw teh Buokon Drop (?) PV and loved the song. Plus for only 1800 somethin yen, it's pretty cheap...

I'm just lookin for a quick buy to hold me over for a while.

I wanted the predators+bandscore, but HMV seems to be out of the score... >_<

Any other input is appreciated, but until then, I'm thinkg MG, Predators, and Sono Mirai single.

I love EVERY song on that album.

Then again, Synchronized Rockers is quite good too. (Sad Sad Kittie, Funny Bunny, Hybrid Rainbow.....<3) Although I did not care for the Little busters, or Strange Chameleon, I feel like they were done poorly.


For a single, I would say Non Fiction. Simply because it has "Heart is there". (I don't know if HMV has it...)

Predators has like 5 songs on it, and there are a couple good ones one there (Bakuon Drop seems to be the best). Sono Mirai wa Ima is a good single. Not one of the best you could buy, but personally I do love the song Sono Mirai wa Ima, and I find Beehive and Heavy Sun (with baby son) to be quite enjoyable. Tell you the truth, Heavy Sun has kind of a Predators feel to it.
If you want a little more rock n roll then go with the Predators. If you want some solid entertaining pillows songs, the Sono Mirai is good.

Can't say Moon Gold is good if you want to be tied over for a while. I don't ever listen to anything on it so I couldn't give you any review of it.
The only reason to get it is so you have it, not really to listen to it.
I really shouldn't diss it so much, but o well.

NOTE: THIS SCALE IS 1 TO 5 IN COMPARISON TO THE OTHER SONGS ON THE ALBUM. as such, 3 is average, 5 is the best of this album, and 1 is the worst on here. not a general grading.

here we go:

1. kimi ga iru - this song is very catchy, a great way to open the album. the lead guitar is very nice, and the bass is quite smooth. the only thing that some people might consider annoying is the repeat of the entire first chunk of the song.

2. this is my fashion - high-paced, fun song. you just want to sing along to the second part (sort of a chorus, since there really isn't one for this song). the solo is badass.

3. i need somebody - like all the songs on here, wins with good drums, vocals, and guitar parts.

4. dear, my 'first step' - some people may not enjoy this song as much, but the chorus is just amazing. the ending in particular is just perfect.

5. ame ga futtekite you na ki ga suru - reminiscent of the song "pantomime" in many ways, but different in many ways too. some people may be annoyed by the "AHH, AH AH AAAAH!" but it's catchy and fun.

6. ame ni utaeba - arguable the best song on here. i have not met a pillows fan that truly thought this song sucked. it's an instant win. you'll be siging along to that one line all day after a listen...

7. kiss me baby - very jazzy/swingy song. catchy as hell with lots of energy. the bass is perfect.

8. asoko he kaeritai - many people don't like this one. this is probably the only song where complaints of yamanka's voice sounding weird are justified, but a lot of it is in the fact that the vocals are overwhelmingly loud (bad mixing D:). solo is sweet.

9. hello, girl - beautiful. absolutely beautiful. when i first learned when this song was from i was shocked. i thought it was a live or something because of the sound of the vocals as they seem sort of muted. the lead guitar on this song is fucking amazing.

10. foreigner - catchy, but not up to caliber with many of the other songs, according to first impressions. however, somehow, as always, the prechorus is amazing, and after a few listens i really got into this song.

11. want to sleep for... - this is the original. it's like a stripped-down version of the turn back one but with better bass and a sweet old-school feel to it all.

12. sayounara daisan wakusei - this song is brilliant. i love when you end the album with a song that inspires a strong feeling in the listener. this song is amazing, and one of my favorite sad songs by them.

overall: i'd say this album is a 4/5. it's not OMFG amazing, but i really enjoy it. if you could only have five cds to show the range of the pillows's styles, you would want to go with moon gold straight through to please mr. lostman.

buy moon gold. good dreams will be around longer, and moon gold deserves more love. also, the actual cd has way better audio quality than the shitty mp3s floating around. it makes a huge difference.

If you like life, get Moon Gold. people who don't like it generally like My Foot. Oh wait...

I knew I was going to get yelled at when I wrote that sentence. That's not what I meant to say about moon gold...
There are actually a couple good songs on there, but I still don't like the older sound its hard to explain. If they re-did all the songs on the album (like they did with Want to Sleep for..., although the original is great) I would probably enjoy it more.
But I can't help it if I don't like it, so I'll just be one of these uncool people who don't love the album.

the statement "you wouldn't buy it to actually listen to it" was just stupid. i don't care whether you personally like it or hate it (okay, i'm lying, i wish you liked it too), but it's just that was really moronic.

in either case. recommendation threads are always a good time. we all bicker over "ZOMG NO!!! LIVING FIELD IS WAAAAAAAAAY BETTER THAN KOOL SPICE!!" or other such things.

Get Moon Gold, but keep an eye on your orders. I ordered the Best Collection band score 4 weeks ago and they still don't have it in stock. I'm surprised they have MG.

I can back Predators and Sono Mirai wa Ima. Moon Gold isn't one of my faves, but I'm also not one of the "old pillows > new pillows" people either.

Good Dreams would be my pick. Songs like Xaviar, Good Dreams, Frontiers, Sono mira, and Rosey head (gotta love that bridge ) are worth it.
