Post subject:  American radio play: it finally happened!

The date: March 3, 2006
The time: 10:52 A.M.
The station: 91.7 WMWM Salem

The song: "The Third Eye"

I announced it with an abridged version of my meeting with Sawao Yamanaka at the Knitting Factory. I was nervous; but I got through it okay.

I plan on doing a show in the near future that plays mostly J-ROCK, J-POP, & J-PUNK. Next time I'm gonna play some noodles; but today I also played Puffy's rendition of Guitar Wolf's "Can-Nana Fever".

If by "not", you mean "totally", then yes. This is not a good thing.

And if you mean, "not really played by a REAL station" then, no it wasn't and I bet many college radio stations have played the pillows. This thread fails to deliver.

Seeing as you're from MA, you probably figured it out quickly. Yes it's a college station at Salem State College. So those worrying about the pillows becoming too popular: don't worry. Hasn't happened yet.

I do know for a fact that many college stations play Japanese music. Even before I started training I was told that they play Guitar Wolf and L'arc~en~ciel; so this really isn't so much as a tidal wave announcement as it is just kiddy pool stuff.

Has anyone else here heard any Japanese bands on their college stations?

Yeah, only devoted fans have the right to listen to the pillows. No one else should be exposed to their awesome music - infact, I'd be totally happy if their fanbase didn't expand at all. UNDERGROUND 4 LIFE, diy, etc.

Really what do you mean, kudos?

In Atlanta (where I live), a local station called Album 88 (88.5) has a Japanese radio show called Nippon Music Champ, where ,between 6 and 8 on Sunday evenings, they play various Japanese music. Most of it sucks, but they do play the pillows sometimes. It's run out of UGA, but has been around for many years, so it's not really a college radio station.

I approve. I think that's I should sign off. "Thank you, my twilights! Sayonara, baby!" I think I'll play "ROBOTMAN" next with noodles' "Empty Girl".

you guys are so selfish if your saying you dont want them to be popular. Your not that cool for being diferant and listening to bands no one else really listens too. Im sure the pillows would like to expand their fan base, so i think itd be good if they did.

The only person you could really accuse of that is kudos, and there's not even a lot of evidence for that.
