THE BEST of the Modern pillows
To change things up a bit...We can discuss only their post-99 albums.
Smile (2001)
Thank You, My Twilight (2002)
Penalty Life (2003)
Good Dreams (2004)
Your assignment includes the following: (1) State why you think your favorite album is the best with a strong thesis statement. (2) An essay with an introduction, body, and conclusion. (3) Send this in with an envelope licked by Sato himself. Thank You!
Thank You, My Twilight is the best of the pillow's recent albums due to it's energy and experimentation. This is complemented by some of Jun's most exceptional and stand - out bass. It is their most recent album to still showcase their raw energy and emotion.
I feel that the albums which follow this 2002 release focus too much on sounding like something else, and not the first, unpolished, thought that comes into Sawao's little chink head. Penalty Life and Good Dreams start out very strong, with the first 3 or 4 songs flowing like something from the 1997-1999 era, but then a bunny comes and shits in the middle of the album and fucks it all up. This results in the remainder of the album sounding like a 95 year old Sato, trapped in a toilet under a warm turd, gasping for breath and yelling in pain for Sawao to stop, and to mix the vocals lower, like in Last Dinosaur and such.
Ok, I don't feel like writing a conclusion.
why did i just do that?

Fuck your format, but I like Thank You, My Twilight most of those four. Smile isn't all that far behind, though.

Smile. But TYMT is probably better, just think that some songs sound somewhat silly.

My vote goes to TYMT. I think Smile as an album is better, but I prefer just a few songs off of TYMT more than anything from Smile. The music varies quite a bit on that album, which makes it lose a few points, though. The good strongly outweighs the bad, with Robotman, Shiroi Natsu, and Thank You, My Twilight in particular being among my favorites.

TYMT gets my vote. As mentioned before it was the first pillows album I ever bought (not burnt); and when I first heard "Rain Brain" my jaw dropped. I loved ever minute of that 41-minute album (even "My Beatuiful Sun (Irene)" [which was my Grammy's name]). "ROBOTMAN" is my favorite on that album; followed closely by "Babylon Tenshin no Uta." "Come on, ghost" is a cool slacker song; and "Ritalin 202" is quite a good chase-sequence song. In short, TYMT may not be as grand as their late 90s albums; but it still has many catchy songs.

I didn't excuse myself for this unintentional one because I thought no one would see it.

Smile and TYMT are great and penalty life is fun and all but they just don't seem to shine as much as Good Dreams does as a whole, complete album. Just one mans opinion.
