I believe the venue is age restricted to 21+. This is due to TABC
restrictive policies, and venues have little flexibility in this
matter.
Even without the underage fans, the Japan Nite showcase is likely to be
very well attended by SXSW Music registrants badgeholders and fans
alike.

hmm...i'll check LA venues. be back later with my findings.

i'm going to work on an essay in a minute. i'll let you know how it turned out.

ok....i checked the following venues in the LA and OC area: the vault 350, wiltern LG, galaxy theatre, chain reaction, roxy and the showcase theatre, which is in corona. house of blues also listed nothing. the website also shows upcoming shows for the universal ampitheatre. nothing for late march, april, and may. i even tried ticketmaster. NOTHING AT ALL. perhaps the shows have not been confirmed or they were never booked.

will there even be any LA shows?

Why is that bullshit? I don't know where you guys expect them to play. It's not like they are going to fill a civic arena. What ever bar(s) they play have their own policies about weather or not they do all ages shows. It's up to the venue, not the bands that play there.

Man, I swear if I hear one more person say "Man they need to come to Des Moines and play an all ages show!" or "WAT U MEAN THEY ARNT EVEN COMIN 2 SPRINGFIELD!" I'm gonna throw up.

Yeah that's true, pretty much the only place obscure Japanese bands like the Pillows be able to play is in bars. I live in the Bay Area, and I was just sorely disappointed when I found out they would be playing right next door but I can't go, that's why it's bullshit.
