Re: the pillows 2010 US Tour!!!
The longer I go without seeing these guys live, the more desperate I get. So in all honesty, it would not be out of the question. I still haven't forgiven myself for missing them way back in '05, the ONE YEAR out of three that I don't go to ACen.
the quality of Sawao's voice is actually declining.
I would dispute this. He's more nasal, yeah, but his ability to stay in the right key has improved. You can see this in just about any song he sings in Blue Songs.
I'm kind of indimidated of spending +$600 for a trip to NY to see the pillows, but honestly, going to NY and seeing my favorite band live are two goals in my life, and I'm still young enough to do stupid shit like this and not feel bad about it, yeah!
i only had to shell out $25 on a train ticket, and got to kick it w/ GR both times ( ) but im not so sure i'd go any farther than that. the first time i saw them was what, right after my foot? the set list was still GOLDEN. it was a religious experience. but the last time i saw them.. too many new songs, and i was actually left.. unimpressed. it pains me to say that. still, if you havent seen them, or been to new york - hop on it. i'm guessing YOU won't be disappointed.

We need to host IM after parties.
Also, I live in Newark, a 30-minute PATH ride from the city. I have no idea how that's relevant yet, but I feel it's worth throwing out there.

I know nobody in New York or San Francisco, but a few friends and I were planning on going on a trip this summer. It doesn't look like our schedules will coincide with the tour dates, though. When you've lived in Small Town, Iowa your whole life, going to a big city is a stifling experience.

I saw overburn in 2008 but I didn't talk to him... I'm a bit shy. I don't know if I'm going this year, but I'd like to.

Anyone else who is attending the Slims venue in May, be sure to get there early to meet up and chill in SF before the show. And I mean early like 10am or some shit. It would be really kool if everyone was there and we could all meet up.

We're still young enough to do stupid shit like this and not feel bad about it ^ ^. I bet people wouldn't believe me if I say, I'll go to NY (or SF) for a couple of days, ditching school, just to see some unknown Japanse rock band play and to meet up with some American people I "know" from an internet forum, just to go back to The Netherlands again only a couple of days later, having spent 'bout 600 dollars. Everything you wrote also goes for me. (except going to NY as a life goal and having visited Florida) I don't feel like sleeping in a hotel all alone, somewhere in NY. I really get lost quickly. If I'm not getting lost on the way to the hotel, I'll definitely will be lost on my way to the concert. . . ending up missing it. (That said, I don't mind spending the night at a fellow IM'er's place.) I'm still considering, but I'm leaning to OH REAH!

Re: the pillows 2010 US Tour!!!
NYC isn't that bad to navigate, the streets are in a grid. I suppose the subway would be a little intimidating if you've never dealt with public transit but there are maps and signs everywhere, if you plan out where you need to go ahead of time you should be fine. Worst comes to worst, ask the friendliest looking person you see for help. Just try not to look too lost when you're wandering back to your hotel late at night.
It might be a bit early to think about this but if you don't have friends to stay with in NYC, you might consider a hostel to save money, as long as you don't mind dorm style living. I.e. sharing a room, and communal bathroom; some places may have private rooms but they will cost more. You might make some new friends too.
Anyway, I love visiting NYC, so much good food and so many cool places to go. Any time you go there, there will be something fun going on.

No, no one is going to your house.
