Same with "ROBOTMAN", by the way. Translated, it's probably the saddest song I've heard with the most ridiculously joyous sound outside of 'Komm Susser Todd' from Neon Genesis Evangelion. x.@;;
Komm Susser Todd basically kicks ass. Everytime it plays on my iPod, I'm forced to silently sing along, like some happy go-lucky emo kid.
"So with sadness in my heart
I feel the best thing I could do
Is end it all and leave forever
What's done is done, it feels so bad
What once was happy now is sad
I'll never love again,
My world is ending!..."
Robotman is "joyous?" Huh? I always thought it sounded sad, as far as the pillows go. I think it's great, though; some of the best lyrics, to be sure.
it's rather energetic though, and i remember at least one person saying that before reading the lyrics, they thought it would be a happier song.

Terra makes exactly the point I was trying to. Sorry, I'm awful with words at times. x.@
But yes, it's very catchy and upbeat as far as the instrumentation, but the lyrics are rather depressing. It kind of reminds me of listening to Mr. Bungle's "The Air Conditioned Nightmare", in which there's a long piece that sounds very much like Christian Contemporary type stuff (If you like Komm Susser Todd, by the way, check out that song. I think you'll like it, if you're a bit left of center. n.n), but in which Mike Patton is saying things like..."I only see rainbows, now that the bandages are gone-- Through my window, then...From the skyscrapers, down to the submarines; Birds and fairies, sanctuaries, upon the rolling hills of Hell", "Get me out of this air-conditioned nightmare- (Rots your brain just like a catchy tune- yeah!) you will hate life more than life hates you (Burn all your momentoes of me...)" and " Walkin' on air up from the wheelchair, I'll find the suicide that I deserve...Walkin' on sand, forgotten where I am but it's so comfortable here in the sun..."
...You get the idea. Same kind of thing. I think that's why ROBOTMAN can hit such a soft spot if you're a sensetive wimp like me, because it's juxtaposed in such a way that can make you cry. ...I do, anyway. --_--;;
...Still can't play all the way through Bran-New Lovesong because of it's sound alone, either. Keh.

I think you guys know my thoughts on Good Dreams, not to crazy about it. Sono Mirai wa ima is okay but the rest of it just doesn't do a thing for me.

Exactly.

NO. Nothing the pillows have EVER done is 'emo.' Quite sticking the mindlessly banal 'emo' label to every pillows song you don't like. My Girl ISN'T EMO. Robotman ISN'T EMO. And if anyone calls Shiroi Natsu 'emo,' then I will come to their house... and cut them.

Not the Respectable Roosters tribute, the album. The Roosters remake is killer IMO.

WHY CAN'T WE JUST LISTEN TO MUSIC WITHOUT HAVING TO LABEL IT? I HATE EMO BUT LOVE BANDS LIKE FALL OUT BOY AND HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS. IT SHOULD BE ABOUT THE MUSIC NOT A LABEL THAT SOCIETY GIVES THEM. GOD. NOBODY UNDERSTANDS ME.

If it's any consolation, I hate those bands. Now, they actually *are* emo, from what I've heard.
Sawao wanted to be a bat, but ended up being salmon. How tragic.
I've always thought Subhuman would be great if redone acoustically... and with good vocals. I don't think he actually says anthing about being a bat, though...
