It was really just this one area that started anything going:
I'll explain what I meant by that on a whim, since you can't seem to wrap your head around it (as simple a statement as it is, I can't understand why): I like to think that my opinions as a fan of my favorite band aren't generic archetypes of what you and "90%" of the other fans feel.
Up until then it had been fine and dandy. I accept your apology, and apologize for calling you an asshole.
(btw, the 90% estimation came from most of the fans of the pillows are the Japanese fans and the overwhelmingly positive reaction to Youngster when it gets played live. Heck, even most of the people on this board thought it was a good, fun song, as I recall)
Sawao has said repeatedly that they plan to put a lot more of a rock feel for the new album, which I assume they've been done recording for a while now. If New Animal is an indication of the rock sound he's talking about, it's going to be amazing.
Of course, I would absolutely LOVE to have more tracks with the kind of rock sound of Century Creepers.

They'll both most likely be on it. Singles are always on the upcoming albums (or previous albums in some cases).
I'm excited for it. I enjoyed WU!x3 thoroughly and have loved the new songs since I heard them live in March. I'm REALLY looking forward to the DVD that will come with it.
I'm also real excited for the new noodles and Fragments we'll be seeing soon.

I would absolutely love Sawao to tighten up the vocals for the live performances. New Animal seems promising, but the way it was sung here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=XSEsR2vebfs seemed a little weird. The first part of the chorus was all over the place, and it seems like in writing the song, he should have brought the whole verse up an octave. Did anyone else find it to be really lowww for Sawao? I just think his whole act could use a bit more control in general...

Yeah, CC is pretty damn epic.
Maybe if we're lucky Jun can get some bass solos in there.
I'm gonna' have to wait until my copy of New Animal arrives in the mail and I've had a dozen good listens before I make my true predictions for Pied Piper. Still, with Sawao saying they're going for a "rock" feel, I don't see how the pillows can go wrong!

I dunno. It wasn't necessarily too low, but it was odd. Something about it.
Centruy Creepers is straight up the best track on WU!x3 IMO. Great old fashioned pillows rock and roll.
Scarecrow was very good too though.

I think he did it so that when he came to the upcoming chorus (in which he sings at the top of his lungs), there was a clear distinction. I'd call it an sforzando. Notice that he doesn't sing that low for the rest of the song.

Tiny Boat is crying right now.
@GR: I'm not sure why you're saying the first part of the chorus was all over the place, he hit all the notes. I like the way he did the lower verse, it reminds me a little of some of the stuff he did with the Predators.

I remember Sawao saying something in an interview about how the solo in Century Creepers should make you cry. It seemed like a very oddball statement then, but now I get it a bit more. Octave power chords can really tug at you...looking back on it, the simplicity of the solo made it that much more powerful. Something fairly visceral about it...to me at least.

Hm... I have to say, during WUx3, the CC solo isn't the only solo I cried during. Hehe, I also cried during the Boat House solo.
Then again... I find myself crying during a lot of the pillows' solos...

Re: [2007.05.02] Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!
http://www.jame-world.com/us/articles-2 ... rview.htmlInterview with Sawao mainly about Wake up!x3 and a bit of reflecion on the band itself. It is probably posted before somewhere over here. (edit: it is viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3447&hilit=jame) But man, such a good read! Many eye openers. I'm surprised I haven't come across this earlier. We need more of these interviews! Please post them!

Very, very cool interview. So Sawao is definitely a Oasis fan!
