The interview was cool because it was pillows band interview but it annoyed me how there was so much refrence to FLCL. But It was a relief to hear Swao talk about his songwriting process. How he described his understanding of the music and feeling the song first then experienceing the messages of the song. This is exactly how I try to explain to non-pillows and pillow listeners of my understanding and interpretation of thier music and lyrics despite not knowing fluent Japanesse.
Craig by the way, kudos...I had a simillar experience at the knitting factory show with Swao. I won't go into details because it will take up to much space but I think its awsome to know that there are other people out there as crazy about the Pillows as I am. and I am crazy, but thank you for having the higher understanding that I wish more people like us had about this wonderful band.

That was really interesting. But kind of depressing since I've been saving up for but can't make it to ACEN. It's a beautiful sadness...
But yeah, it's really cool how they are releasing CDs in the US... but after I've already spent hundreds...

There is an article about the Japanese night at SXSW in Newtype USA this month. Noodles are mentioned and the pillows get the biggest picture in the article. It's not worth buying just for the one page article, nor does this warrant a new thread, but I figured I'd point it out.

Newtype??? dangit.. too expensive.. i can get a another Darwin Award book for that price..  now im going to debate with myself on whether or not to buy it..thnx for the info.  if u have the issue, can u scan and post the article??. plz.

No scanner. It's nothing you haven't seen/read already. It tells about what bands played and has some pictures. The pillows picture really isn't any better than the ones terra has on the site.

they're already mainstream in the anime-world. why couldnt they just go to jrock or jpop.. im surprised that most otakus get the songs to jrock and jpop right, better than with the pillows music. despite the fact that there IS no opening to FLCL, i still see lots of "Skeleton Liar" for "FLCL OP" (it came out AFTER the FLCL OSTs CAME OUT. ARG!) :x
