Jun needs some more love here on this song. Even with the shit quality we have to deal with, his bass lines come pounding through, and it sounds amazing. And you know, I'm actually kind of glad Sawao opted to go without a solo here. He did something different with his song structure, and in turn did something different with his actual songwriting. This song just clicks. This could be their best single since The Third Eye.

Also, don't know if it was noted, but the B-sides are to be "BLOCKHEAD" and"Hiking". Friggin excited for these too.

I'm already thinking of the mind-crushing disappointment if this single sucks.

Yes, the sentiment is fantastic. Using the Energia as a metaphor in this way, it's wonderful. And the sound of this song is so [i]boss[/i], it rapidly switches back and forth between a delicate, sweet guitar melody and an absolute cyclone of head-bobbing-while-singing, jump up and down, thrusting energetic guitar. Great song, I can't wait to hear the full quality.

It is well concieved from it's inspiration. I'll take two copies. Gimme dat single/shirt/dvd combo!

Also, I totally get what you're saying, Raccoon. This single has an energy (lol pun not intended) that hasn't been there for a while on recent singles, and it's fucking great. I think most of the singles have been good/quite good, but there's a feeling of uncontainable excitement I get when listening to this that hearkens back to the first time I heard them. It's like "THIS. This is rock and roll. This is the music I've been looking for."

I've been listening to this a lot as well. I played it non-stop for over an hour last night and I'm listening to it some more now

Since I've seen a comparison of this song to The Third Eye, I'll point out that my favorite part of this song is also my favorite part of the Third Eye, and that would be the ending.

I felt maybe some of this, but I'm not ready to say that Energy is [i]that[/i] song for me. It's definitely very promising, though. Have to give it time (PV and high quality sound for sure) before I can really say anything. But yeah, definitely a good one here.

This is the first single in a long time that I haven't straight out bashed. Just, everything is so... [i]good.[/i]
I get lost in the same warmth I used to when I first listened to them. It makes me feel so aged. It gives me an out of body experience, in which I examine what I have done in my life since I was 14 (when I first listened to them.) Am I proud of myself? Have I changed? Am I where I want to be? Am I doing my best to be me? Am I giving myself enough love?

But does it make me feel at all like I did when I first discovered them? Not by a long shot. It's nice that the reaction has been so positive, though. It's the first time in a long time that a lot of the fans on this board have been genuinely excited about new content, which is pretty cool.
