@Jomei: Yeah, there's no way they topped what we've seen them do in the past, especially in terms of setlist. But the technical precision in this concert is most impressive. The vocals are definitely better than BotP.
Well that's great. I'll look forward to the videos then.

lul I feel like there are more gems like that. Got any others? ;O

Sounds like an awesome time Tidus. While I was kind of underwhelmed with the setlist, Mare makes a good point. Anyone here would shit their pants if they saw Please Mr. Lostman or Thank You, My Twilight live. We haven't gotten that on the American tours yet. Anyways, what else happened at the show? I mean, any quirky stuff going on, funny antics on stage? I know you guys probably didn't understand most of what was said, but was there anything you picked up? What was the crowd's reaction when they played 90's My Life? Did Sawao get some harmonica action going? :whoa:

Before 90's My Life, Sawao said something along the lines of:
"Because of what sort of day it is, I'd like you guys to hear some old songs too. We used to do some 60's Beatles-ish stuff. This next song was surely about dreaming of a day like this."

Before Strange Chameleon:
"There are limits to the flesh, but there are no limits to your heart. My small, tiny universe is continuously expanding. In that space, there's a light that shines sometimes. That light is you guys!"

Approximations based on memory from a live report on Mixi.
Okay but Bubbletown's Happy Zoo. :X

I'm sure this was a cool show, but you must know it wasn't their best show EVAR. That's just pure fanboyism on Brye's part.
No it wasn't. I'm not going to lie. I was honest, I loved HWTBTHZ and Lostman go to yesterday, those track lists
were amazing, but the track list is not whats important here. Sure you can go off and say I'm being a fanboy, but
if you had met me or even talked to me in person about everything pillows related I AIN'T NO FUCKING FANBOY

I was just blown away on how they used the stage, the quality of Sawao's vocals and Manabes lead which were both
great since they had added so many new touches. We were at the very top of the arena and we still were blown away,
imagine if we were right in front of them
I have to admit that the set list was kind of a no brainer but it was a nice list none the less.
Mare will love what they did with Strange Chameleon, and everyone will love what they did for 1989.
Me and Kyle (Lo-fi Boy) were going crazy during the sound check on 1989. We were going to die before the show even began!

I'm going to say that it wasn't the best performance in 20 years, thats just silly to say. But I was very excited to just post something on here to let you know how amazing it was. When the DVD comes out you'll see what I mean. But for the Jomei, Mare and Sheer I agree that the track list was a :? and it wasn't their best performance in 20 years, but it is one of their best in years. All I have to say on the matter, now that I have found some time to upload all of the pics and some pics of our journey through Tokyo. They'll be up on my next post. :D

I'm sorry a lot of you couldn't go, it would have been amazing if we were all able to meet at Budokan, but we can sure as hell prepare for the near future for a 25th or hopefully a 30th LIVE!! :shred:
But lets just pray for a great album release on Tidus's Birthday! OOPARTS will be a great album, I just have a hunch.
Also in the pics I will add merchandise at the show and goods received as well as the FULL track list of OOPARTS.

Post Re: NINE FUCKING SIXTEEN
I can rationally say, while separating my jealousy of this no doubt exciting performance/event/experience for you guys, that the setlist was a mega snooze-fest. Out of a fat set, and THREE encores, they managed to just hit 1) Cream of the crop of their newer stuff (sans That's a Wonderful World and Mr. Droopy). 2) Heard 'em a billion times standbys like Hybrid Rainbow and Little Busters. And 3) The expected PML stuff. Oh, and the neat surprise of 90's My Life.

I think we can all agree that their prime time was Little Busters, Runners High, Happy Bivouac. And Little Busters, Hybrid Rainbow, and Runners High are a given. So where's Like a Lovesong? Crazy Sunshine? Kim Deal? Beautiful Morning With You? Tashikame ni Yukou? Midnight Down? Juliet? The only nod Thank You, My Twilight gets is the SONG, Thank You, My Twilight. Then from Smile, we get Calvero (good, but kind of a one-trick pony), and the ubiquitous Kono yo no hate made.

Yes, it might have been a really flashy, well-put together, well-executed show. But man, that set is really just lacking. I think I'd be thinking through at least a third to a half of that show, "Didn't fall in love with No Surrender then, not gonna fall in love with it now."

I understand that the band wants to hit upon certain...songs, to make their statement about their 20 years of playing together. Save the more "obscure" songs for more "obscure" live events. Whatever. But by mainly focusing on just the MEGA HITZ and the passable new stuff...eh...wait, what am I saying? Why the hell am I surprised?

I'll second or third the notion that BOTP is the best pillows set list we've seen.
And yeah, I probably wouldn't be griping as much if I were actually at the show. But my gripes are still valid, don't you think?

edit:
I'll add one more thing: It's gotta be about the fans. I'm sure 95% of the people in the building have seen the band play Swanky Street, Hybrid Rainbow, and Strange Chameleon at least twice in their lives. We all know pillows fans are fucking diehard. It would have been a real service to the fans if they spiced shit up a little - I'm talking Moon Marguerite, Lesser Hamster no Yuutsu, Beautiful Picture, Kanojo wa SHISUTA, Liberty...

You know what I mean?
I completely agree with you GR. I was a bit dissapointed on the set list but who was I to complain? You know?
I got to be there and had a great experience and it was enough, I wish I was at the BOTP Live or the Lostman go to Yesterday LIVE, however we can't always get what we want. I wish they played Like a Love song!!! Thats my favorite song right now and I was hoping to scream "Kore wa kimi no uta!"

They had a short introduction part where Sawao introduced the band members and Jun and Manabe gave very short and sweet introductions but Sato was talking about the arena and the background and how it was used. I think my friend Hirmoi told me that he made fun of Sawao's hair or something that it was too big and fit the entire screen alone. haha That just might be a misinterpretation or mistranslation but it would be funny if it were true. He did say something about the graphics of the Budokan screens. Mare got most of the Key parts of Sawao's lines, but the best part of the pauses were of me and Tidus screaming "SAWAO-SAN!!!" "PEE-CHAN!!!" I gave a shout out to my hometown "Concord" and a huge "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!"
Some people laughed and were a bit confused
Other than that there wasn't very much stage action, I wish it was longer, the set list was sooo short.

Thanks for taking a few random pictures with me in them! I just got home and realized, I only had 3 or 4 pictures of myself from the week~ I'll try to upload a few of the pillows related pictures very soon.

I regret not being able to hang out with you and Tidus more, in Tokyo. How was the rest of your trip?

edit:
90's my life was played without harmonica introduction. my favorite part.
Since I'm no good at reports, I'll just add that Thank You My Twilight, 1989, Calvero, Boku wa Kakera, 90's my life, and Please Mr. Lostman were enough to mix up the set for me. Though I'll never say no to Another morning. never
